Those external factors can be huge, but scoring high on asvab will help. Got a 98 but couldnt get nuke or ct jobs because of legal waivers. Still landed a tier 1 job so all is good

Great advice in the video, but one other very big thing is to make sure the job is something that you will find enjoyable. Or at least not hate. You may have an aptitude for some things that you would not want to spend most of your waking hours doing. Read about the ratings and MOS that you qualify for, then ask yourself what you would really be happy doing. Promotion and post service career opportunities are important, but so is job satisfaction and enjoyment. Look for the opportunity that gives you the best overall life.
