We were invited to q winery for a Christmas Artisan event. I usually work with wine barrels and staves, however, I will use this jig to make a quantity of trees just because they look great. Thank you!

You know a good thing to do with these is run a shelf across each set of branches as well and at the base of the tree create a housing for a candle

@@janbaker9418 I will have a video coming out shortly to explain them in more detail. These trees can be made where all the boards are "trapezoids" or where the angles slant in the opposite directions.

How about gluing up boards to give the tree shape from the end view. Then, just slice off trees like you would slice bread from a long loaf. The glue-up could be speeded up by making a jig consisting of a series of arms to place the boards into a tree shape. Then, it's simply... slice and dice. I did it and I produce a tree ready for a touch of sand paper and some paint. Total time vs total trees... one per minute. Huh? I did 60 trees in just under one hour AND they looked as great as your do!

That's a great tale on it. Do you use a re-saw blade on a bandsaw to cut it up like that?

A regular blade works okay as well. Also, if making many, use a thinned-down paint and dip the piece several times with a slight drying time in berween.@@cedarriverwoodworking

Yes you can. most jig saws have the ability to tilt the base. You can set that to the 30 degrees as well.

That’s awesome. I made about 20 of them because I thought they would sell like hotcakes, I was trying to sell them at 20 for a couple weeks and dropped them to 15 and have only sold 2 of them. I got the wood for free but still, can’t believe no one around me is buying them

It may be faster and easier to us an already completed tree to lay out the placement of the pieces on the jig.

@@cedarriverwoodworking another thing that works for sanding parts is the rubber liners you put in drawers. They usually have holes so the sawdust falls through to the bench top.

I made a few of these last week. I scaled it down 30% and used thinner wood. The smaller ones are better for areas with less space.

I have a question. What if you don't have a nail gun? How do you attach the top angle and the bottom two angles? I've got the two sides and bottom done and the whole thing glued together. I'm a bit scared to try to hammer nails to secure the corners of the triangle😬

@@cedarriverwoodworking I watched it. But how do you clamp a 30 degree angle? I'm sorry... I'm a new worker and only just got a miter saw as my first power tool (unless you count power drills and Dremel rotary).

Good observation. The are built slightly different. If you watch the original video on how to build them I explain that you can use all trapezoids for it, and that's how these are built.
