Whatever you do DON'T buy an Orca Torch. The parts are all proprietary, and cannot be substituted with other fittings or replacement parts. You will be 100% stuck with Orca parts which are very expensive if you can even find them for sale. Currently there is only one parts provider and they charge ridiclous prices for everything. The original company went out of business, so good luck finding parts.

Need to heat the ingot mold up to get a cleaner pour want it Nice and hot so the silver doesn’t get shocked from cold when it goes in

A parte do video da fundição está acelerada ao dobro da velocidade. Fora isso não há mais truques. O importante é o cadinho ser o mais pequeno que se consegue encontrar para não absorver tanto calor. Com cadinhos maiores já é preciso um maçarico com oxigénio.

Thanks for this video. I have a question for you though: When I glazed my crucible for the first time, it was really bumpy because the borax wouldn't 'flow' It just bubbled up and melted in place, making the surface of the crucible uneven and lumpy, not smooth. is it okay if the crucible is bumpy like that? will my gold get stuck sticking in between the lumps? thanks in advance

It may need more flux or more heat. The idea is to create a glass-like surface that covers the texture of the crucible. This prevents the metal from sticking and makes it slide better when pouring. Sometimes you need to add flux several times before the crucible is completely covered.

@@deecaria thanks so much for taking the time to reply . I ended up using Flux paste with a brush and it worked perfectly! I now have a nice shinny and thick glaze on my first crucible!! yay!

hi! awesome video. i am going to buy this exact torch. i have a question, does the temperature in the room make a difference in melting? i tried melting with another torch in garage where is 5 degrees Celcius and it couldnt melt...

Ambient temperature shouldn't be a concern unless something like an AC is blowing directly in the general area your piece is in. My AC blows right over my work space and I have to turn it off when I solder or melt. But no, as long as your metal and crucible are room temp, you should be good to go.

fuad hebibov, As long as you get the correct hose attachment, the torch can used with any gas. The problem with natural gas (methane) is that it doesn’t reach the same temperature as propane or butane, so I doubt it can get hot enough for this specific application.

what is your liquid flux recipe please? (in the dropper bottle)

I buy pre mixed liquid Flux. It's a a yellow liquid. The one I have is a spanish brand so it's no help to you if you're in the US. But any flux will work. Paste flux is even better because it sticks in place.

olá Dalila! Estou a usar um maçarico Orca (M75) e um cadinho pequeno e até agora sempre consegui derreter 20 gramas de restos de prata 925 facilmente. Na semana passada mudei a minha oficina para outro lugar em minha casa e de repente estou a ter problemas para derreter a prata, mesmo quantidades muito mais pequenas: a prata começa a derreter, fica laranja mas mais nada, posso tentar o tempo que eu quiser e nada, é muito frustrante. Tentei com 3 cadinhos diferentes e nada, alguma ideia do que pode causar isso? Eu sei que o maçarico é melhor para soldar, mas porquê essa mudança repentina? Obrigado!

Eu começava por verificar se ocorreu algum problema durante o transporte - verificar se a mangueira não tem nenhuma fuga, se está tudo bem atarrachado, etc. Verificava também se o gás não está a acabar. Fora isso, a razão mais óbvia será a descida de temperatura ambiente dos últimos dias. Quanto mais frio está, mais difícil é conseguir que o metal aqueça. Se for esse o problema, a solução mais simples é criar uma espécie de “gruta” com tijolos térmicos ou carvão à volta do cadinho para ajudar a concentrar o calor. É a solução que uso para soldar peças maiores e costuma resultar. Boa sorte!
