Sadly, the commercially available cones are of really poor quality and rely on questionable "fragrance oils" (not to be confused with essential oils). Currently making kyphi incense right now. I added a bit of star anise not traditional but I like it. I’m almost ready for the drying of the pellets but I’m looking to make some small cones. Have you ever made kyphi. I would love to see your recipe. Thank you.

I have a very simplified recipe for kyphi in the 2nd edition of my first book. I'm FAR from an expert on it. I love the kyphi from Mermade Arts.

so just WOW i didn't know you could make your own incense! I'm wondering if i could just drill out a small hole in store-bought cones, in order to make the backflow cones? or will they just crumble? thanks

I've tried that a few times. I used a small drill bit and drilled by hand, very slowly.

Quick question... Can I used Clear Jell as a binder. I have some and the stuff seems to have the same properties as other resins.

If clear jell is flamable and safe to burn, try it out on a small batch yourself. Experimentation is key when it comes to incense, at least in my experience

You can drill a hole into a dry cone, but you must either drill by hand or at a very low speed. It is time-consuming to drill the hole without breaking the cone, but it is possible.

You would need to drill a hole in each cone. That's not an easy task. Cones tend to break when you do that, but you could give it a try.

You mentioned a book that you had written. How many books do you have and what are their titles? My girlfriend and I are both totally blind and we are starting our own incense business. We really enjoy listening to your videos, but we think your books would be even more instrumental to what we’re trying to do. If we can find them on book share, we would absolutely love to read them.

Can I break down the over seas cones and mold them larger.the ones that come with burner are fast

That is one of the disadvantage of synthetic incense. You could grind down those cones and make larger ones, but they will still burn too fast. A better solution would be to make your own incense that burns more slowly and smells much nicer.

You have to make backflow cones from scratch. They have to have a hole through the center and that is nearly impossible to add to an already dried cone. You could, I suppose, use a drill to cut a hole up the middle, but I wouldn't recommend it.
