About 60+ years ago I had to make bread. After much trial and a lot of mess, i final came up with a similar recipe. I only knew bread was made with flour and yeast. When I (God showed me this recipe) finally got this recipe it was delightful. Although everyone enjoyed the bread, when I shared the recipe I was told it was the wrong way to make bread. I didn't know it was challah until about 20 years ago. I almost always made it into clover leaf buns and sometimes a regular loaf. I didn't know about braided bread and have not mastered that yet.

Thats so neat. Thanks for sharing that with me! Bread is so special, no matter what shape you make it into. the braided shape is signature of traditional Jewish bread for the weekly Shabbat. Funny you were told it was the “wrong way” to make bread… if it comes out tasting like bread who cares! Haha

Thanks! I haven't branched out to 4+ strand challah braiding so its a bit easier this way but at least this way it keeps the process simple, and the egg wash gives it such a beautiful reddish brown color! Yes I quote the brit hadasha as I am a believer in Yeshua as Meshiach. What's interesting to me is growing up as a Christian I was taught the old and new testaments were essentially separate and that the Torah had been done away with by Jesus' death and resurrection. As an adult, my husband and I have studied the entire word of Elohim and instead understand it now as a continuation and a reinforcement of the tanak, and that no where is Torah done away with, but rather just elaborated on in a what the deeper heart impact of the mitzvot were given to produce in man. I now can see how Yeshua was a jewish man, from the tribe of Yehudah, who lived as a Jew in Jewish culture in a Jewish land and who only studied at synagogues under other rabbis and his disciples were all Jewish men as well. Also, contrary to Christian ideology, Yeshua only ever gave honor and credit to His heavenly Father as the one and only true Elohim, like the Shema teaches. Anyways, not sure where your beliefs are in this, but even on a base level I find it very interesting to see all the references to Torah and the writings found in the New Testament books. Have a good day!
