These magnetic window covers are such a handy addition for your campervan. I made these for my VW Caddy micro camper. I didn't have any sewing experience beforehand and fell into quite a few pitfalls, so watch to avoid my mistakes and take away some genius vanlife hacks that I discovered along the way.
You will need:
- Black-out material (enough to cover both windows)
- Patterned or plain material (enough to cover both windows)
- an old (or cheap new) yoga mat
- Strong magnets (roughly 8 for the smaller window and up to 12 for the larger one, depending on your magnets)
- A sewing machine (not essential, but will make your life 1 million times easier!)
- Thread (to match your material - I used black)
- A needle (to hand-sew the magnets in-between the layers)
- Sticky tabs/sticky tape to hold your magnets in place
