Hallo, schöner Van. Frage: Wo werden die Eisenstangen verwendet, um das Bett zu stützen? auch Material zur Wand- und Deckendämmung? Tausend Dank

Just came back from Ha Giang Loop trip last week. Did 4 days on my own motorcycle with my wife . Ended up paying 1.5 mil dongs fine for not having international driving license. After that officer gave me a “safe trip” leaflet with date on it. Next day when another officer stopped us - we showed this leaflet to him and he let us go without checking or paying anything. Also paid 900 k dongs fine for speeding 60 when I could do only 50 km/h. That’s it. A bit stressful first time, but interesting experience. Will do it again next time. Btw official fine for lack of driving license is 1 mil to 2 million dongs. So it’s up to officer how much you’ll pay. I also tried to make my fine lower, but officer kept saying 1.5 million. Maybe if you have picture of you license or speak Vietnamese you can make it lower

The exhaust and the intake do not need to be as far away from each other as possible. They could be next to each other, it doesn’t matter. You just need to ensure they both point towards the rear of the van and the intake and exhaust has a steady run downwards to prevent any trapped water or moisture.

Off topic question but what was the thickness of the yoga mats you used for insulation in the van?

Did you add the foam to the doors for insulation? How is your van in colder climates? Are you having any problems with condensation?

Are you happy with these lead batteries? I see people recommending lithium but they're sooo expensive
@vanvistas3 ай бұрын
If I could have afforded lithium, I would have definitely gone with lithium 😅 the batteries have been very good, but I’ve never used them for a full-time winter, I’ve always tried to travel with the sun. And they’ll definitely need replacing this winter (after 2.5 years full time use) which I think is pretty good going on them as they only cost £70 each BUT as they are only led acid, they can only be drained to 50% and we’ve constantly tinkered with our electric system to get the best use out of them. I think when I come to replace them I might try and save up and splash out for 1 220ah lithium battery which I think are about £600 atm 😅

Love your videos! Would you say it makes a difference when driving? I'm rolling along listening to podcasts like what?! huh?! xD
@vanvistas3 ай бұрын
Haha! I think it definitely does make a difference, but I also think once the conversion is done and all the insulation and cladding and furnishings etc are in, they will also massively dampen the sound while driving
@entozoon3 ай бұрын
@@vanvistas oh yeah that's a great point. I've just got a van that was for disabled peeps so every wall has a window which is nice but I think I have to insulate over the top 🤷. Anyway big fan of you and your videos!

Ooooh that’s a tricky one BUT I can say that last year, driving from Northern Spain (we got the ferry direct from UK to Spain) all the way down to Morocco, all the way around Morocco, (ferry to Italy) up to the dolomites and back to the UK, was only 8,000 miles!

Thx. Sounds like you are having a wonderful adventure. I just did a 4800 mile mountain biking centric roadtrip in SW US using an 40 year old Alaskan Camper in the back of my Diesel pickup. Amazingly averaged 14.1 mpg

Ohhh man I'm soooo jealous of your build!! Definitely inspired to go for it and finally get to buying & converting a van as I've wanted to do for the longest time, but been so nervous without having the workshop or appropriate space to do so. But seeing someone take what they've got available to them and just getting into it is truly inspiring. LOVE it!!
@vanvistas3 ай бұрын
YES!! You can absolutely do it! You can learn everything on KZfaq and it’s worth checking in on Facebook forums to see if there’s an affordable co-workshop space near you

If I watch one more of these van build with people doing it in, flip-flops, shorts, crop tops, with no bloody safety equipment and practices that would incur a fine from the HSE so bloody big, they could buy a ready made RV, I think my head will implode! 😤. EDIT I take it all back they have hand sanitiser! 😡

In 2022 I did several hikes in Scotland. I had to cut short my visit to the Isle of Skye because of the weather. So I arrived a day early at Sandwood bay. Stayed there a evening, a day, a morning. Only my stepfoots in the sand. No noise, no cars or plaines, no people. Just the wind, the ocean and the dunes. Probably one of the best times.

I have never done anything like this but I am a home renovator and an automotive restorer. I am very particular and really wonder how cool I could do something like this. I really like things looking like they were at a high level of build or a very fine factory finish. You guys did a very nice job at this and have some great ideas.

Not because is a girl but by far the more complex video step by step ive seen so far.. Seen over 100h of tutorials and tips to renovate my 1987 caravan and they all either lose 30mins in the simpliest detail and make it a 100h series or is 10min video where from minute 05:00 to 05:10 it goes from having nothing to have the insulation process done 🤣. Thank you for the good video! Clarified some of my questions since in google once says dont do this and right away next video says you should be doing this.. 😅

For complicated reasons, I am seriously considering moving my life onto the road. I have a million questions to answer, but I have one for you. How do you find having the H3 top when it comes to access to places? I am a little worried about going for longer vans (again for parking etc) and wonder whether a high top might be a compromise for storage etc. It looks wonderful, by the way.
