From an engineering perspective changing the orientation of the fiber lay up will give you strength in different directions. This is often referred to as the lay up "schedule". Often parts will be made with uni-directional carbon if it needs to be strong in only one direction. It is very common for high strength parts to have 4+ layers where each layer is at 0degrees, 45deg, 90deg, etc. Then you get into all kinds of neat stuff like nomex honeycomb in between layers for very light yet strong parts. I know most of us love how carbon looks, but there are a lot of structural considerations when a part is expected to sustain a load. Love the channel!

Stumbled on your channel and watched the e46 hood being made, as it’s going I find myself asking, “hmmmm two sections for the hood, I wonder how he connects them?🧐” and the next video up is answering just that. And now I am a subscriber, awesome channel, thank you!

Have you ever considered building an experimental aircraft like a Rutan Long-EZ, or a Cozy MKIV? They are usually built with wet layup, but I think it would be super cool to try and infuse one.

When you say 'several hours in the oven'. Is it just a cupboard with a fan heater? And what temperature does it get up to roughly and how long. I've seen that in a few if hour videos. I LOVE your content by the way

Hi, What is the best adhesive to use to bond carbon fiber to leather? I have a carbon fiber interior car pars that I want to install. Double sided 3M tape does not stick at all. I was thinking I need to "glue" them on. Not sure what the best method is to use.

Never knew this was how it was done and had been bugging me for a while . Having worked with plenty of dry carbon and infusions I would definitely not bother trying to do any fancy seam down the centre of a bonnet , definitely not worth the time , effort and scrap ratio . Well done for your efforts, I’ll just stick to race car stuff that’s painted .
