This is exactly what I was looking for my Ghyran Stormcast Chamber. 3 paints, some static grass and some tea. Perfect for a simpleton like me. I hope mine looks as good as this.

I’ve started a new army that I wanted to use forest bases for, it seems such a rare video so I’m glad to find this one. It’s very informative. It would have been nice to see a variety of different versions, maybe a centrepiece version with some more larger decorations/logs.

Thanks for the video! I never thought to use green tea for the little flakes. I have used a "mixed spices" cooking sprinkle to look like leaf matter, so I will have to compare the two now.

This is very interesting, as other painters seem to only paint their bases, although a few do texturise them. I think this is great as it livens up what would be considered a rather dull base for a miniature. Cheers :-)

really wanna know how you did the piece of wood. I am wanting to do old felled trees that are hollowed out or even just pieces of wood to represent this sort of thing. I already mess with slate and cork and stuff for my stone and rubble and what have you, but doing more woodland style bases is something I would really like to learn.

Has anyone used Huge Mini's materials for their own projects? Are they really good, I am really looking into their texture paints for mud and snow effects.

the idea with the tea is awesome... just looked in my kitchen what i have and i found some old tea variety i didnt drink and won't drink in the future anymore, like mint tea, green tea, camomile and even a reddish/brownish rooibos tea. I also use some black salt for the bases, because i once bought it, but didnt like it for cooking, so before it lands in the trash can, ... why not? :'D

I use not only green tea but also chamomile and red rooibos tea. The chamomile is a light color tea, sort of like straw in color. Combined they can give a fall like feel for your base. The only downside is explaining to your spouse why you're keeping you garbage..

Hey Keith, Mike here. There's a couple things you could do. If you're using the citadel mud, you could let it dry then paint it with Skavenblight Dinge, then use Stormvermin Fur as a drybrush. Or you could use Vallejo Dark Earth. It's comes in a big jar for a decent price and it's a grey mud.

It's a Nighthaunt Spirit Host. GW makes it, not customization at all in that pic.

I’m guessing you just super glue the models then on top? Or do you have to pin it? Just wondering how strong the bond is between the base, basing material and model.

Generally I just use superglue, and it works on this too - for the most part. If the model ever falls off, I’ll then pin it when I reattach. Hope this helps!

So i've had extremely poor luck with the green tea lol - What brand are you using? I've bought 4 different kinds of tea and even though it shows actual tiny leaves on the box, the tea thats inside is like a stringy/powdery mess. It's very odd. I tried sifting it and that didn't work either. Yeah... just wondering what you use because yours looks PERFECT lol

How do you glue the miniature to the base afterwards? Do you just use super glue?

Yeah normally that will do. If it’s a real pain to keep it held on and the legs are thick enough it could also be pinned

Did you use a makeup brush for the Agrax? I’ve used one for drybrushing and it looks about the same.

Yep, that's right! I just used it for the shade coat since it's one of my large brushes. It covers quite a lot of surface area very quickly.

Noob question: How do you paint the miniature before the base? Holding it with the hands while painting it?

You could pin the miniature, or temporarily stick it to the base with a little bit of super glue - then snap him free to base if you want :-)

adding tea and herbs to bases can cause unwanted fungal growth in time.

Have you personally had this happen? I've had my green tea bases for 2 years now and they're completely fine. I suppose anything is possible if you live in an especially y and constantly humid environment, but since tea leaves are dried prior to manufacturing, there shouldn't be enough moisture to sustain any kind of growth.
