Hello everyone,
As promised I've made a step-by-step tutorial on how to make stitch frames at home for a fraction of price ..
All the materials, where i got them ( and for what price), tools I've used etc. is shown here.
Also I've mentioned few tips and tricks to have better results.
Some hardware stores can even cut your long rods into desired lengths. You don't have to stain or put polyurethane on but I would recommend to protect wood from getting stains on overtime.
This is based on video from Tatiana Borisenko (in Russian language) : • РАМА ДЛЯ ВЫШИВКИ СВОИМ...
If you have any questions , suggestions or if you've successfully made some frames from my tutorial- please leave a comment bellow :)

Just found your video. It was super helpful showing how to attach fabric to the rollers! I've always been hesitant to sew my cross stitch fabric onto the base fabric using my machine, but much more confident now. Thank you so much!

Glad it was helpful! I know that this way I saved tons of money by making my own frames... and that was the intention of filming: to help others save :) Hope you're now more confident in attaching fabric. Hope you have a wonderful day!

Have you thought of using plastic clamps like a Q snap has on your main rods?

You should! I've tried to be very detailed. It might seem like complicated thing but it's actually fairly fast and simple. Good luck. My 1st was a bit crooked , I had no idea how to work those tools but even though it doesn't look very professionally done I can still use them well. I know some hardware stores can even cut wood rods to your measurements. Let me know how it turns out for you ;)

Hello, form Latvia ❤️. We made this kind of frame a year ago to use on my very big project - L-110cm, diameter-30mm dowels. Seen video of Tatiana Borisova 😊. The frame is really good. Works so well. As I am going to start my first Chatelaine project, I think to use this kind of frame as well, as the side stretchers are going to be real inexpensive, and I will be able to add the next length od sides as my project grows. Why? So there will be no need to roll the fabric with the beading on the rollers. I love to see what I have stitched, don't want to squish my beading as I love to do beading and backstitch as I go. I don't like reaching far over the frame to reach over to the top of high frame, so I would begin project from the top with just 15cm sides. Then exchange them to 30 cm, when the project grows, and then change it for even longer sides as I go. Seen it on youtube- AUKARA channel- Sofya uses Omanik Quantum frames like that. Normally I use Omanik frames. To be fair I would love to have all the Omanic side stretchers, but I only have 2 of them just yet. They are not cheap, so this kind of frame is inexpensive alternative with fantastic working quality. Thanks for a good quality tutorial 🙏. Happy stitching, and quick needles! 💖

sveiki no lietuviešu ASV ( I hope I wrote it correctly) :) Yes, I have several Omanik frames and I didn't want to buy any more of them especially since I need big sizes... This tutorial is based on Tatjana's video with few personal changes. BTW I watch Aukara's channel too and love to follow her Chatelaine SAL progress. I thought about doing something similar for my Chatelaine once I've done most of the stitching and need to put beads on... Have a great day and enjoy your first Chatelaine. BTW- if you go to Chatelainegalleria there are many pictures of close up of many pieces- might help when you're figuring out specialty stitches.

On the little squares for the stretcher bars does the holes go all the way through to slide the rods in?

yes. I was doing it from both sides at first until was able to figure out how to get drill head all the way through:) As I mentioned- I don't do woodworking so I was learning things as I was doing all those steps.. Wish you luck and don't be afraid to try this out

I was showing all things in the beginning of this video, included pictures from stores ( in the US) with item prices and was explaining a bit more as I was using all the items. Few things I bought in bulk because I was making many frames at the same time. Hope this helps, if not- let me know. have a great day!
