How to Make the Best Chi Kofte (Armenian Steak Tartare) | Eats With Gasia

3 жыл бұрынIn this video I show you how to make chi kofte, or Armenian steak tartare! Super delicious, perfectly flavored, raw meat. This is the BEST chi kofte recipe, hands down! Give my recipe a try and let me know what you think :)
What you'll need:
1 lb steak tartare
1/4 cup bulgur
2 onions
2-3 tbsp spicy red pepper paste
1 tsp red pepper flakes
1/2 tsp cumin
Olive oil
Water
Salt to taste

Looks like my mom's. I've got to learn how to make this meat. She used to prep the meat from scratch. There are no Armenian markets where I moved to in Texas.

This is absolutely not Armenian. It’s just a middle eastern/arab dish. We don’t like nor eat this in Armenia unless we go to Lebanese or Syrian restaurants

Just because Armenian's borned in Armenia don't like eat this dish, doesn't mean it's not Armenian. Armenians from the diaspora hate "khash" or just usually don't eat the things that are cooked in Armenia like the vegetarian cabbage dolma that is done around new year, the "gorgot", the ghapama, the "kotlet" etc. Armenians from the diaspora that are descendants of the genocide survivors come from Western Armenia and don't have exactly the same culture as Armenians from nowadays Armenia. Doesn't mean they are less Armenians, or that their dishes are less armenian.

@@ss-kw4uq I am a descendant of genocide survivors and so are many of my Armenian born friends. This dish is simply not Armenian. It is middle eastern. It’s fine if you enjoy if but it does not make it Armenian. You are a descendant of genocide survivors who ended up in the Middle East and it’s only natural you meshed with the culture of your host country. I also enjoy eating borscht - a popular Ukrainian dish eaten all over Eastern Europe but we don’t suddenly claim borscht to be Armenian lol. Enjoy whatever u want to enjoy tcavt el tanem but don’t misrepresent things. Cheers
