A company that stands for DEI is seen in the everyday decisions. A one-time donation is just a headline. What can you do to truly influence your companies culture? Lindsay Wrege is the co-founder and CEO of 321 Coffee, a coffee shop focused on neurodiversity inclusion. What started as a side project during her undergraduate career quickly grew as Lindsay discovered her talent for entrepreneurship. 321 Coffee now employs over 20 individuals of all abilities at a permanent shop at the North Carolina Farmers Market, with plans to expand throughout Raleigh. Her passion for inclusion stems from her personal experience growing up surrounded by people with disabilities, seeing first-hand what they’re capable of followed by the lack of opportunity available to them. Lindsay believes in the power of using business for social impact and continues to advocate for adults with disabilities. She is currently studying Business with a concentration in Entrepreneurship at North Carolina State University. In her free time, Lindsay enjoys spending time with her friends and family and finding adventures. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

very fruitful speech for us, the young generation. Not only covering diversity, equity, and inclusion, but the mindset of achievement. We are being taught to be farsighted when planning our career. However, we seldom have the courage to take that very first step with love and passion. So, thank you to 321 Coffee and beautiful Lindsey Wrege, your great speech has made my day.

In 2022, in a forum on my work, I respectfully pointed out that I don't need diversity /inclusivity when I start a business. I stated that what's needed are: - qualified personel - motivated people - honest workers. I nearly lost my job...

Lindsay, Congratulations to you and your team members! You are doing great work, and your speech is Amazing. A 321 Coffee where I live would be great. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are not working for me. I'm a Peer Wellness Specialist and haven't been able to get started working yet in lasting employment. It is very hard and difficult to find jobs we can do. I would like to participate. 👋❤

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion - three different words that mean the same thing, QUOTAS!

I’m sorry, but I really did not find this to be helpful in any way. Seems to me that this young lady, needs to just grow up and stop thinking that she’s still a kid. Also if she diversified her friendship group to include people without some type of physical or mental barriers might help - seems like it was just a poor us team. But that’s just how I heard the story, could of course be completely leftfield

At the risk of sounding ungentlemanly...nonsense. Get rid of this huge waste of time. A business does not belong to anyone other than the owner(s). If a business does not receive any tax money, that business should be able to hire who they want. If the business is one of hate and bigotry, the buyers will react accordingly. If they treat their employees badly, those employees will leave. The proponents of this want to legislate morality. That is impossible. The decision to act responsibly must come from within. In this day and age of hedonistic perversity...it doesn't happen often. So sad. My pronouns are "GET OVER" "YOURSELF". I know I'm far from perfect.
