What do you guys think, is it worth the extra time needed to boil the solution?

Great work! I like this idea for blowing out some quick lift or break powder.. I live in an extremely humid climate so usually have to bake my kno3 before milling. So it's always a pain to make large batches of bp as you can imagine..

The commercial plant that I researched used steam and compressed air to pulverize the potassium. They weighed it dry for each batch and then turned it into what they called slurry. On the other end they ball milled the charcoal sulfur together. They weighed out enough for the batch as dust that they moved with dry hot air. The batch was mixed and then it went through a puck press. The pucks were dried before grinding.

Nice video. Just a small suggestion...the only change I would make in demonstrations is to not torch the entire sample at once, which makes it harder to see how fast it burns. Maybe use a burn stick. But overall you did a better job than I would!

Never tried it, but I would just suggest milling powder traditionally for use in guns. Corn the powder and you will get pretty good economy anyway.

This is definitely the safest way to manufacture! But when I heat up the solution and boil it and mix it with the powder, the powder always floats on top of the liquid, and it only mixes when the temperature of the liquid drops, Can't the heater be turned off during mixing?there's no stirring the powder in your video, so did I do something wrong?

Question. I want to ball mill atomized copper powder for a painting project down to a certain micrometer along with other metals. What type of ball mill would you recommend and grinding material. I was gonna go with a thumblers tumbler but maybe there’s a better one that’s easier to open and won’t go everywhere since copper is so toxic.

And what type of grinding media**. Currently I am using ceramic cyplebs, I think that’s the standard

@PraetzelProjects24 күн бұрын
It’s alright, not great. The real practicality I was pursuing was to create lots of cheap meal powder in a small mill for use in fireworks. If you want to shoot with your powder I suggest doing it the right way. The channel Everything Black Powder does some good work on this.

@@PraetzelProjects if the cost of a few ounces of alcohol will "drive the cost out the roof" you're shopping in the wrong places....but whatever

@@TheWingnut58 yeah, that is why I said comparatively, the cost of the alcohol is not that much, but when the powder costs under $2 a pound, tacking on 50-75 more cents just for a faster turn around time is not completely worth it with this method for me. I do use alcohol every once in a while depending on the application, but in the summer it is not really necessary imo.
