Before that I worked with rules like golden ratio, rule of space, and so on, what lead more into clean, steril, technical shots. Hi my friend, to be honest: I also worked for years with golden ratio, rule of thirds, rule of space and how they are all called :) And yes, these things are all proofed by science. But finally I realized, that I was too concentrated on rules only and I didn't think what I wanted my photographs to say. It felt more like science than art and I got out clean photographs tough, but there were no emotions. I realized, that the major problem was, that my photos didn't tell a story. Then I started to think about the why behind each rule and found out, that it is easier to let my photographs tell a story, when I work with the roots behind. Balance is very strong here, for instance. I never think about the golden section anymore, I just think if I should place an element more left/right, more up/down to bring the image into that visual weight, that supports my story. And this improved my photography really massively. Interesting to hear, that you didn't photograph for years. I also had a longer break of photography, due to building up my IT&marketing company and I started again in 2015. I engaged with photography and composition tough during by absence, but I didn't execute photography by myself. I can just tell you - it is an amazing feeling to hold a camera again first time after years and to start again with the knowledge you have already built up. So for the case, that you should think about if you should start again - I can highly recommend, my friend. @@christian.irmler Hi Christian, for many years I have health problems due to severe osteoarthritis and nerve compression in hands, wrists and other joints. I have had multiple operations on both hands and wrists. And despite all the medical procedures I still have very stiff hands and chronic pain. That is why I unfortunately had to stop taking pictures. Due to motor numbness in my hands, I sometimes accidentally dropped a precious camera or lens. So unfortunately I had to give up shooting with heavy equipment. But to stay a bit active with image making, I do have two GoPro's and recently the DJI mini 2 to replace all my heavy equipment. So I'm still doing a bit of fun with making short KZfaq video's. 😊 Fortunately, I can also enjoy the photos that other photographers take. And I especially enjoy all the things that I can still do. 😉🌞 Happy Easter

​@@TaurusPresents Oh, that's so sad to hear - sorry, I didn't know. It is of course no compare to your situation, but as I have an injury at my knee currently already for some weeks, I'm not able to walk for longer than just a few minutes, what changed my photography totally in last time. I can imagine, that this is a big limitation for you. I thought already to buy a 18-135mm lens on my aps-c camera to get down with weight, what would also mean that it is not necessary to change lenses. Maybe something what could work for you as well? My next weeks video will be all about landscape photography with an injury. I'm not sure, but I hope it will also help you with finding ways anyway to photograph. Fingers crossed therefor, my friend. And I'll do my best to get up to mountains as soon as possible again, to show you the beauties of nature you can't reach. Enjoy your Easter weekend!

Hi Darren, it must be amazing to photograph at those stunning cliffs at the Wild Atlantic Way, it's already amazing to watch your videos :) There is also nothing bad with taking more than just one shot - I also often do that. What I meant was more what I see so often, that photographers (beginners in most cases) just snap around and take not more than a minute to build up a composition. They finally get out just average photos. When I'm finished with my first composition, I also often go for another, maybe a third and even some more, especially at waterfalls it's also difficult to brake down for me :) But I never go over to the next composition, when I'm not 100% finished with the current. But I think you and me, we have a totally different problem than that: To have this kind of trap here on KZfaq, always to think, we need something more for our audience :-) Happy Easter Darren and nice greetings, Christian

Hi my friend, thank you so much for your constructive feedback. I really appreciate, because it is so important for me to know how things appear for my audience. As creator you see everything through different eyes :) To be honest, I worked long on the setup of my studio lighting and there are really some reasons for the white balance, angle and the colours I finally chose. As there will come a change on my channel soon, this setup will anyway not work anymore then and this is why I'm currently thinking about to change my setup again in future. But I plan to mention in one of my next videos, why I decided for the current setup and what it effects. Hi Marcus, good question - yes, they can work side by side. Let's say, you place an element to the the golden section at the right of your frame. Now you unbalanced the image. To bring it back into balance, you have to place another element at the leftern side. Depending on size, luminance, saturation, number and position you can control the visual weight, if the image leans more to the left or more to the right. But we have to be careful not to mix 2 different things: If you place an element to the centre, you get a totally balanced image, but no tense. If you place an element to the rightern side and you balance it by one or more elements on the leftern side, you could also get balance again and comfortableness - but you also get tense into your composition. Placing an element to the golden section (or let's say not to the centre) or to the centre is just the question if you want to get tense into your composition or not. Composition is a much bigger chapter and it was really hard for me to break the most important things down to just a 20min video :) There will come more detailled information and even more sub topics of composition in future. Weißt 1 2 1 wäre eigentlich sehr interessant. Gewöhnlicherweise, bin in zwei oder drei Mal in Österreich. Aber seit March 2020 überhaupt nicht. Ich kann nur hoffen dass es in 2022 wieder geht. Dann wäre ein 1 2 1 super!
