Great video on how to take these measurements but the problem is neither this video nor the worksheet tell you how to do anything with these measurements. These measurements don't immediately translate to wheel fitments and I was expecting an explanation on how to derive wheel fitment ranges from these measurements.

It also doesn't account for turning the wheels or suspension travel. Pretty useless video, sadly.

I had to thoughts going through my head. One, am I an idiot and just missed it. And two, who waste their time, making such a detailed video with such useless information.

great now what do I do with these measurements? What formula do I follow?

Excellent & very informative video. Very professional. Just watched a Rachel DeBarros video. Was like watching a silly puppet.

You really need to have your suspension in the loaded position, If you have it in droop (unloaded) as in the vid your measurement will not be relevant to the actual wheel position in operation.

Thank you! Finally someone said it. Just have to figure out how to get to that position.

I changed out the rims on my van went up one size so I can get e rated tires ever since I did so every time I hit a bump set rims from my upper a arm a little bet something I've over all I have been able to live with so far but really don't want to leave it this way my original rims for a zero offset by going up one rim size from a 15 to a 16 can I buy another 0 offset rim or do I have to go with and negative offset greatly appreciate the help have a few rooms in mind all depending on when I have to do

I did not find the templet sheet used in the video.

Wouldn't you need a jack under the wheels suspension to preload the suspension to simulate the wheel up in the wheel well?

Would be best

My thoughts as well. Clearances are going to drastically change at normal ride height vs suspended.

It's a good thought but I don't think any of these measurements will change based on that. Measurements C-F are all measurements of things attached to the wheel hub so their relationships and measurements won't change no matter where the wheel hub is in 3d space. Measurements A and B are measurements from the mounting surface, parallel to the ground. For the most part, the mounting surface moves up in and down (perpendicularly to the ground) under load but doesn't move farther from or closer to the vehicle (parallel to the ground) so these measurements should be accurate as well. Because the measurements are not specific to be of a particular distance from the center of the wheel hub, they aren't affected by load. But this lack of specification I think get's to the limitation of the measuring system. The diameter of a wheel will change how much space it could have even in the width, offset, and backspacing areas. For example, they measure to the first contact point which in that case was a bolt but what if the wheel wasn't large enough in diameter to reach that bolt no matter how wide the wheel was? When I went to measure my self I ran into this problem. Because of the way my suspension is, the struts get farther from the mounting surface the farther from the hubs they go and the struts are the first contact point. But where do I measure? At different 'diameters' that distance would be different. But there's not a simple and consistent way to solve for that limitation.

To measure E, is the measurement taken from top of caliper to bottom of caliper? Didn't understand from video. Thanks.

Well I ordered 3sets of American racing wheels through a tire and wheel shop snd none of them fitted on my Tacoma. The American dealer clearly did not know and guranteed all the wheels to fit every time. Which No none of them fit

This video tells you absolutely nothing about wheel fitment! What the hell am I supposed to do with all those measurements? Is there some formula I’m suppose to follow? Poorly made bro, need to update this video. Plus you should raise the strut to its max to simulate the wheel at its highest point ti ensure your wheels won’t rub on the fender
@geraldunruh57544 ай бұрын
video sucks. does not do a thing to tell you what size wheel/tire to use.
