How to Mix Mapei Grout for Tile -- What Ratio to Use? It's an Easy DIY Project Using Mapei Keracolor

Are you wondering the proper way to mix grout? Intimidated by the process? Well, you've come to the right place.
Check out this 7 minute video and learn how to simply mix grout for your tile application. In this video I mix the Mapei Keracolor unsanded grout.
Tools Needed:
2 clean buckets
2 clean measuring cups
margin trowel
respirator/mask
Drill with mixer attachment
The bag is a bit deceiving, but doing the math Mapei recommends approximately a 3:1 ratio of powder to water.

3.5 oz of distilled water to a pound of dry grout. Before measuring out the dry grout mix the bag thoroughly. easy, peasy.

OH....clean your tools & buckets afterwards. Grout will set up even when setting in water.

Target ratio is 3:1, sometimes it varies slightly based on your accuracy of measurements. I start with a ratio 3:1 and then add what is needed to get desired consistency.

1 pound is 16 ounces times 10 pounds equals 160 ounces.

Correct, by weight, 16 oz = 1 lb. And luckily for water, 16 oz measured by volume also = 1 lb. Since for most people it's easier to measure water by volume, that's why I converted to volume for water.

I thought I made it pretty clear in the video and description. In case you missed: it's a 3 to 1 Ratio of grout to water. For example, for every 3 cups of grout, add 1 cup of water. That will get you close.
