Hi I’m showing you all how I mix my paints to get these cool pearl cells. I wanted to share my recipe it’s not much different from everyone else’s. I thank Sara Taylor for inspiring me with her beautiful artwork and sharing!

Colors used:
Gray and white base paint
Golden fluid Prussian blue mixed with modern master pearl
Golden fluid Payne’s gray and LB iridescent medium
Pebeo Blue turquoise
Modern master tequila gold
Modern master flash blue
White cloud mixture
Recipe:
Base:
3 parts floetrol
2 parts Artist loft white
1/2 part satin enamel
1 part Gac 800
1/2 part Liquitex basics Pouring medium
Water about 1.5-2 parts roughly depending on your paint!
Colors:
1 part floetrol
1 part Gac800
1/2 part paint
Water
Cloud mix
1/2 part paint (color) if desired
1 part floetrol
Squirt satin enamel
1 part satin house paint

I use a wish to mix. It's so much easier. Yes you can get down into the sides cuz there is always one part of the wish that will reach inti corners. You'll see what I'm talking about if you use one. And you don't have to whip it just stir. Works great. Then I use a pop stick just to test consistency, just works better for thar. Just my idea.

This is absolutely fascinating!! I've just ventured into mixing with a basic combination of floetrol, paint and water. This is giving me more courage to try some other combinations. Thank you for explaining as you go!

Thank you Tina for answering my question about a colored base. I'm crying right now because I followed Sarah's apple barrel recipe exactly and the base eats all the color and no Pearl's. I don't think that I've ever wanted something so bad. So the only thing that's not in the recipe is the water measurement. So that has to be it. Too much or not enough. Tina do you sale classes right now. After Christmas

I would say it about 40% water. So you aren’t getting pearls at all?

It’s not only happen with the apple barrel, it’s happen with the artist loft flow titanium white 2020 and happens become the specific weight of the paint compare with the other paint colors . The solution as I learn is to check and balance the consistency of all colors paint you deserve to use IMHO. Maybe Sara Tylor do that.

Thank you so much for taking the time to show us these recipes, I was wondering if you still use the artist flow acrylic as the recipe says. I noticed on other channels that they have started using something else because of some issues they are having with the new way Michaels starting making the artist loft flow acrylic?

Which behr satin enamel pure white I looked it up and there's a few different kinds

It’s a paint and primer low odor interior satin enamel it’s had a teal and white label

When do you use cloud pour?

So if I use it I do swipe it in after I pour my paints. You can put in a bit before you tilt and after to embellish and work your composition.

What is the fac 800?. What can I use in place of that

Golden Gac 800 is a pouring medium that helps prevent cracking. I think if you leave this out you will still get the pearls.

Can you please clear up a question I have? If I don't plan on embellishing my pearl pour, the cloud over mix is not necessary, correct? Can the cloud over mix be accomplished without the house paint? Just wondering. Thank you. New subscriber, found you through a collab video.

Hi Liz! Happy you are here. So the cloud over mix is something you swipe in after the initial pour. I used it briefly when I first started this technique, thanks to Sara Taylor. But It is not necessary at all. I do like to put in the Amsterdam mixture to add some effects to my pieces. That’s 4 parts floetrol to 1 part Amsterdam titanium white.

I have watched many Pearl pour recipe videos, followed recipes, measured using same ingredients and can't understand why I'm not able to get the quantity of pearls all the artists I seen get. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I thought my paint was too thick, I thinned it out to very thin, milk consistency. Any suggestion? Please.

@@TSRCreations I have tried 2 different types of Satin enamels, Sherwin Williams Infinity Satin Enamel and Color Place, Walmart brand Satin enamel.

hello i have a question before i do my first pour at the weekend , how thick is the paint in after the pour when it is dry, my project is a motorcycle back box " plastic

It’s not very thick. I’m not sure what you want to pour on but if it’s anything that will get a lot wear or be exposed to the elements it will need to be sealed really well.

Why are you using house paint and satin enamel ? When earlier you said that they were the same ??? I'm talking about the cloud over recipe. Very confusing.

So for the pearl pour you need to use the satin enamel paint to get the pearls in your base paints. The cloud over mixture was created by Sara Taylor, and it calls for house paint added to the mixture. I rarely use the cloud over mixture in my pearl pours anymore. I don’t feel like it adds anything special to the painting and I feel it isn’t necessary. I hope that helps!

I would like to know why everyone shows how to make a white base. I want a colored base. No one tells how to do that

I have used colored bases in many pearl pours. You can use a Behr satin enamel untinted base #8300 and add whatever color you would like or the deco art satin enamels that come in a variety of colors. I have also bought satin enamel in different colors that i found on the clearance racks at home depot that were mistakes for $2 a pint. You would mix it the same as you do the white base. I hope that helps!
