Tim, Great video.First i have seen on the liners. Another little helpful trick. The longer spoons help with leverage. They help with liners that are a little stiff.

samtheman835 I've mounted truck tires on my rig 24.5 and 22.5 we used 4' tire spoons

On the 4' tire spoons, they make plastic protectors that go on the ends of the spoon. Helps keep from marring up the rim on the R&R. You don't have the plastic ends? Wrap the ends with thick duck tape. The days of doing truck tires on the side of the road will tear you up.

i mounted a 37x12.5x17r on a beadlock rim. there was .2" of crush on a .8" bead bundle. is this too much? when I was mounting the ring I reached the required torque weight with the ring flush against the rim.

I have found that when mounting wide tires such as slicks that laying a piece of heavy material like a canvas tarp on the ground helps keeps the rim and tire from sliding around on shop floor and if they do the chances of scratching the wheel or scuffing the tire up is greatly reduced. Besides covering the edge of my rim with tape I also have covered the shafts of my tire spoons with heat shrink to help prevent scratching rims. Additionally "Bead Lube" (www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/detail/JOE0/209.oap?ck=Search_tire+lube_-1_-1&keyword=tire+lube) works much better than liquid soap and water. Lastly I remove the tape I have put on the rim I am mounting a tire on as well as cleaning\wiping the bead lube of the tire and rim before airing them up, no sense in creating a leak by allowing a piece of tape to get trapped between the rim or leaving any lube behind on the tire for it to possible move )spin) on the rim. One last thing I make a small witness mark on the inside and outside wheel and tire and check them between races if it even remotely looks like the tire is slipping on the rim I will break the tire down wipe the rim and tire bead with acetone or lacquer thinner and then glue the tire beads (inner and outer} to the rim.

I've always wondered, is there a distinct advantage of running a liner tire set up as opposed to running beadlock wheels. And what combination keeps the tire from spinning on the rim most effectively.

I've run an inner liner on a 33 tall x 17 wide slick before and really liked how it helped to keep the center of the tire pressed against the pavement. No cupping of the slick which can happen with wide tires and low pressures. The car I had was really light, around 1500 lbs and making about 850 hp. I had to bring the slick down to 3.75 lbs to make it work properly but with the liner, which I ran 32 lbs in. The tire was also the softest and stickiest compound I could get at the time and it worked awesome.

With the low tire pressure on the outside the beed can blow out without the inner tube I would think right?

why does this one have a tube?
@TailSpin46
@TailSpin46 3 жыл бұрын
It's not a tube. Two reasons: 1) helps put pressure on the center section of that wide tire. 2) adds a certain measure of safety, in case the outer tire comes apart.
@TailSpin46

Also, forget one very important point, it helps put pressure against the outer tire bead to keep it locked in place.

Holds the tire bead against the side of the rim. It's a replacement for a bead lock rim.

MrElPoderozo1 Now we just need someone to tell us why it's better or worse than a bead lock. I suspect it probably weighs less.
