Top 10 Vitamin B12 Foods: bit.ly/2WKNYwV
In this video, I’m going to talk about how to overcome Vitamin B12 deficiency and the health benefits of Vitamin B12. Surprisingly, about 40% of the population is deficient. Some of the big warning signs that you are Vitamin B12 deficient are if you struggle with low energy, fatigue, lack of focus, poor memory, poor cellular function, autoimmune disease, anaemia, or a thyroid condition.
The biggest reason most people have Vitamin B12 deficiency is that they don’t have a healthy digestive system to digest this vitamin properly, also known as leaky gut. If you can’t absorb nutrients and vitamins properly, then you won’t be able to absorb the vitamins you need for optimal health. People who struggle with leaky gut or digestive issues, vegans or vegetarians and people who don’t have enough probiotics in their diet all tend to have a Vitamin B12 deficiency. Some of the benefits of Vitamin B12 include red blood cell formation, which is vital to heart health, cellular function, and supporting the brain and nerve system.
If you want to overcome Vitamin B12 deficiency, then you must follow these specific steps:
1. Consume more Vitamin B12-rich foods (liver, wild-caught fish, grass-fed lamb and beef, and raw dairy products)
2. Take a Probiotic (increases absorption)
3. Heal your gut (getting inflammatory foods out of your diet)
4. Supplementation (Vitamin B12, B complex, desiccated liver supplement)
If you can follow these steps, you will notice improvements immediately and overcome your Vitamin B12 deficiency.

So happy to know what I need now to become healthier. I was really dumb to not do research after becoming a vegetarian. I've been for 7 years now and ignored taking vitamins because I just didn't pay attention to any of that stuff. My diet is NOT healthy and I hate how people think I am just because I don't eat meat. I literally drink so much coffee and eat chocolate everyday. I don't eat enough healthy food. I'm getting the supplements that I need and ditching the coffee and sugary stuff. I'm done with my hair falling out and being so tired and unmotivated to do anything.

I increased my B12 vitamin dosage. I changed my diet to plant based and noticed i needed to take a mental health day. Very sensitive to everyone. I researched and found that i wasn't taking enough B12 for my age group. I increased the mcg by 100% for 2 days and then back to the recommended dosaged for my age group and i can now be around people without being so sensitive.

I have pernicious anemia therefore I cannot absorb B12 through food or supplements. I tested positive for Intrinsic Factor Antibodies. That means, while other people are able to absorb B12 through foods and supplements via Intrinsic Factor in the digestive system, people with pernicious anemia can't. I will have to have B12 injections for the rest of my life. I almost died, and have permanent damage from being misdiagnosed for so many years.

I have been diagnosed with an inability to absorb B12 but the hospital doctor was determined just to prescribe injections, even after it was obvious that I was having bad reactions to them and there was no significant improvement. Fortunately another doctor listened to me and I insisted that I wanted more research done on how I could provide what my body needed to heal this. Seeing doctors cater to big pharma I was fortunate to find a doctor who appreciates the significance of diet and other aspects of your life that leads to the body being able to restore its immune system. Not only gut health but auto immune responses in the body can lead to deficiencies.

It's so true. I roasted a massive beef joint over the weekend (It's Monday morning now) and I have been picking at it all weekend. This morning I've noticed I could actually get out of bed for my 5:20am alarm even though my sleep was reduced. I am feeling more positive and quite bright in my mood and feeling like my core around my heart area is not experiencing a "sinking" feeling. Feeling absolutely great about things right now! - Worth mentioning I experienced this years ago when I did the same thing as a teen and kept picking at a roasted gammon that was left to me.. My energy was through the roof and I didn't want to sleep and got so much editing done that night! So 2 separate experiences and I am feeling like this is certainly a way forward for me. I'm actually feeling something I haven't felt in months and that is a sense of hope and excitement........ Fascinating it's just down to this!

I was found to have vitamin B12 deficiency, all the things you said at the beginning, I have. I was getting treated like I was making things up till one doctor did a whole blood run! I had an endoscopy was found to have inflammatory bowl and six stomach ulcers. My Mum, my Gran and my Grans sister were anaemia all their lives, so it’s possible they had the same. My grans sister died in the 1920’s of pernicious anaemia, she was 24. My gran lived to 90 and Mum to 83. I’ll be 60 this year and so glad it’s been found, it’s caused so many things gone wrong with my body and like I said got treated like I was making it up, till I was totally black all over from falling down, not even black and blue but risen black patches. I’m now getting treatment, my diet is good, I was a special diets cook so knew what to eat. Anyway this video is good letting folks know exactly what happens, thank you.

As a person with Pernicious Anaemia, vitamin B12 deficiency, I can factually state that the best way to deal with B12 deficiency is to have an injection/ongoing course of injections of B12. PA sufferers cannot absorb B12 from the gut at all, it has to be injected and bypass the gut altogether. The advice in the video is only of use if your deficiency is from a poor diet or vegetarian/vegan diet. Probiotics will not work on those who cannot absorb B12 through the gut.

All my lunula disappered after pregnancy and then after talking Vitamin B supplement it was reappeared in very slow rate. When I started consuming fermented food with bone broth, it expedite the process for sure. On the other hand, when I get in great stress, nulura starts to disappear from pinky. What's the possibility that you need to understand that B-12 is also in organic soil therefore is absorbed into organic fruits and vegetables. What if more people like farmers would understand that B-12 is being depleted from the soil due to applying pesticides, fungicides, herbicides and insecticides to plants.

I have heard tho, that although B12 is not found in vegetables, it is however found in Fungi. So eating mushrooms is a great way to get B12 if you're vegetarian/vegan, as B12 actually doesn't come from the meat itself but rather the bacteria that live in the meat. That same bacteria is found in mushrooms. Please comment on this.

To clear a couple of things up, there is almost no Vitamin B12 in soil. There is cobalt in soil, which is needed (and the limiting factor) for making B12. B12 is made by microorganisms, most usually in a ruminant's stomach, so most humans get B12 from red meat (including tuna, which isn't a ruminant) and milk. However modern farming grows the cattle too fast - so fast that the farmer actually injects B12. Now if you were a farmer, would you inject lots of B12 so that everyone who ate the meat were healthy, or would you inject just about enough so the animal grows fast? Cobalamin is a general name for a range of organic molecules which includes B12. B12 is the one that works in humans. so-called "phyto-cobalamins" (ie plant-manufactured cobalamin) looks very similar to the body but can't be used for metabolism - it works the same as carbon monoxide which prevents blood haemoglobin from transporting oxygen. So there are things that measure as though they were B12 but will actually damage you. So Dr Axe is right - consume Vitamin B12 rich foods. However for many people in developed countries, you need to take a supplement such as a tablet or injection in order to get enough. And for the vegans out there - the B12 you buy over the counter or for injection is grown in microorganisms in a kettle, so it's organic and vegan. Coming back to Cobalt in the soil: without cobalt, microorganisms can't make B12. Little cobalt, little B12. The fastest race horses come from the blue grass of Kentucky - well guess what, one form of cobalt is blue (the other is red). So the grass is blue because it contains cobalt. Horse eats, microorganisms make B12, horse runs faster! Can humans make B12 in our gut? Yes. However we make it too low down the gut to absorb it. If we were like rabbits, which also make B12 too low in the gut to absorb it, then we'd eat the special green sticky poos that are specially full of B12 (as opposed to the grey dry ones that the rabbit doesn't eat) - actually someone did feed people their own poos and was able to overcome B12 deficiency back in the 1940s, so you don't need to try this at home!

Well we don't manufacture vitamin c either. Neither do fruit bats. That's why they eat fruit. Most b12 is destroyed when cooking meat. So meat eaters are JUST AS DEFICIENT as us weirdo vegans good doctor. Just take a non cyanocobalamin b12. The one I just mentioned is derived from cyanide. Yes...CYANIDE! Don't trust ANY vitamin company that uses this form in ANY of their formulations.

I am vitamin b 12 deficiency and vitamin d and iron. I get light headed fatigue, hair falls out Quickly. I am totally beat down by it now. I have actually felt the food just sitting in my stomach like not digesting. I get bloated for long. I have heart pains sometime as well. I also have anemia. I keep falling back into severe depression. I feel so good after I eat lamb and wild caught fish, I also feel better eating cheeses, now I know why.

This video is so helpful! Thanks! I am taking one probiotic supplement and magnesium and b complex supplement everyday. Two weeks ago I had a severe heart burn and acid reflux out of nowhere. Maybe because I increased my wine intake (I don’t usually drink) and I took ppi, omeprazole, and the acid reflux was gone in a few days but weird symptoms started to happen, like shortness of breath, chest pain, numbness and tingling in my legs and arms, tightness in head, hoarse voice and I couldn’t sleep. I would wake up every hour. Ever since I started taking these supplements the symptoms seem to be fading but at a very slow rate. I also had blurry vision but it’s much better now.

If you cannot absorb B12 digestively, then taking a supplement won’t work either - unless it’s in the converted forms methyl-cobalamin & adenosyl-cobalamin. I use sublingual B12 drops that contain the two forms & they work really well because they bypass my digestion & get straight to my cells.

@@cleanpull999 My doctors did. I’m not sure which one diagnosed the intrinsic factor problem, as I had a team including neurologist, gastroenterologist, cardiologist, psychiatrist (for meds) all at once. I think it was a doctor working from X-rays who found the problem. Took forever to diagnose, but they were all over it when it was discovered. What did the most lasting damage was the fact that I was undiagnosed for years. Still suffering symptoms years later even with treatment. I could write a book! I really feel sorry for people who go undiagnosed.

I guess all the Vegans, go around searching vegan and get upset when someone says something they don't like. Wow! If you believe your diet is so great, 1. You shouldn't be bothered by this and 2. You should be eating it and proving it by example. There are great vegan recipes out there but everyone is different and we all need something different.

I agree with you. Many vegans have stormed the comment section on the b12´s actual origin, and some of them became pretty much triggered. The funny thing is that we wouldn´t even be able to rely on water and soil for b12, even when b12 is acutally produced by bacteria XD

the basic Foundation about what B12 is was good but the sources you recommended for getting B12 instead of going directly to the source of the actual vitamin and getting it directly is what you should be doing. Animals are often supplemented with B12 so go directly to B12 and take it in forms of either cyancobalamin or methylcobalamin which is an active form of the vitamin which means that even if you have intrinsic factor that doesn't allow you to digest the first form, if you take the second form it's already active and intrinsic value won't make a difference.

Not all of us can take just the tablets or eat lots of meat and dairy to absorb our B12. There are also absorbtion issues at a cellular level and many of us have to have B12 injections for life. Tablets do not work! Even if we eat healthy and take probiotics, it still isn't enough. It can help but to say it is the answer can also be putting someone with Pernicious Anaemia or B12 deficiency, health at risk.

Also nothing better than a carrot or any tuber straight from the soil unwashed. It's how b12 ends up in animal meat in the first place, it's in the soil that's attached to the plants roots that the animals eat. . If it's alive-eat it. If it's dead throw it away!

I know I have a leaky gut. Here’s my question. If you’re saying with a leaky gut, you’re not able to digest food properly to absorb the vitamins, minerals and nutrients needed, then how is me eating nutrient dense vitamin B 12 foods going to help with my deficiency, if I’m not digesting food properly? Wouldn’t the same also be true with taking supplements? How am I to fix any deficiency if I’m not able to absorb it correctly in the first place? I’ve already been working on my gut health for quite some time, with homemade chicken stock and soups. I can’t do a lot of fiber because it aggravates my gut and causes me bad bloating and gas. I’m doing more or less the full GAPS diet. I guess I’ll start eating my beef liver again. I was kinda slacking.
