My Scarlett 2i2 fell and the USB power connector broke. Argh. Had to figure out how to open it.

Great! I just finished to fix my interface. It needed a clean up, specially the knobs. It is working perfect now! The clue is the two under screws.

The back is held to the jack connectors by two plastic nuts hidden underneath the outer layer which is glued to the back. The glue is very strong, so use a hairdryer to melt it just like you were replacing a cell phone screen.

You may have had to beat up your device and are ultimately unable to solve your problem, but I'm glad you posted this because I needed to get inside mine, too - the exact same model - and I never thought to look under the rubber feet for screws. That works. My problem is a tough one, too. The tip of the quarter-inch jack on my monitor headphones broke off and is stuck way up at the end of the receptacle (on the lower right front). It's no more accessible from the inside than it is from the outside. I can see the hollowed out brass-colored tip deep in the hole, but I don't have a way to grab it and pull it out. There's a mechanical spring-type device that grabs the shaft when you put it in so it stays in securely, not a problem to pull out when you've got the whole plug to yank on, but not just the hollowed-out tip from behind.
@davebeery_youtube4 күн бұрын
Did you solve it? Perhaps you could put glue on a stick (or something like that), let it dry on the broken tip, and pull it out the next day? You’d have to be careful not to use too much glue.

Surface mounted connectors totally suck. Very fragile, totally unsuited without additional through hole support. This design is shitty, will NEVER buy another Focusrite product.

Sort of. A friend took a look at it and figured out he could glue the tongue connector part back with crazy glue. He did and it works again! So, knowing that the part is simply glued back in place, I’m keeping this particular interface connected to a desktop computer that will stay stationary. I don’t want to plug it in or disconnect it too many times into the future. Fingers crossed! 🤞

Does anyone know what a good replacement part for this USB-C port from Digikey might be? The user guide says it's a USB 2.0 port, and I count what looks like 12 pins but are actually 16 pins with 4 groups of 2x on the outer edges. I'm thinking USB4105-GF-A / Digikey part 2073-USB4105-GF-ACT-ND
