This is one of my least favorite exercises that is also a staple of my usual routine. I'm going to give a try to the neutral angle variation because I've never really thought about it and now I'm curious! This series has been a real blessing and now I'm almost sad that it's ending but on the bright side you should be coming back very soon! Hope you're having so much fun these days, Justina! ❤

As i am working on strength imbalances I prefer to do half kneeling single arm shoulder presses, and have built up to 13k per arm. I am loving the breakdown of these videos and am learning so much....big fan from England!

Keep forgetting about the neutral grip. Right now, my preference is Seated Overhead Dumbbell press.

My upper body is much weaker, so I usually struggle a bit with this movement. I still love it, though! Thanks for this video, it helps a lot!

I’ve been doing 11.5kg DB ohp as part of your push up programme - have worked up to 4 sets of 8-9 before my form breaks down.

I enjoy dumbbell overhead press. I can work up to 30 pounds on days I feel strong if not so much I’ll stick with 25s 😮

I can press 85 to 100 lb overhead depending on how I'm feeling. Kind of surprised honestly that overhead pressing and variations on Olympic lifts fell out of favor for general population fitness at least until CrossFit came along. Like, it's not just easier to set up for an overhead press or a clean and press in terms of equipment, but it does so much more overall than, say, bench pressing.

If going for one rep max I can press 40lbs in each hand while seated. Otherwise, usually between 30-35lbs in each hand for 10-12 reps.

I currently do a 15 lb one side overhead press, for about 10-12 reps. I have been working on my overhead strength for a while lol

My shoulders are so weak and the left one often hurts just when I’m walking. I had one year playing the tuba for band and I’ve never been then same since 😂

I love this series. I noticed in the beginning clips your head bobs forward as your arm presses up. Ive never noticed mine do that, does doing that help your arm go straight up and ensure your head doesnt go back instead ?

The heavier you start to lift, the more you'll start to lean back to get more of your body under the weight to assist (hopefully that makes sense lol)

Zero pounds. I truly try to avoid overhead pressing of any kind. But one day, when my shoulder is stronger I’ll definitely be incorporating these. I do prefer using a machine because of stabilization, but that’s exactly how I hurt myself in the first place. So what do I know 🤷‍♀️

What are your thoughts on Arnold presses? I remember seeing an article somewhere listing exercises people over a certain age (it was 40 or 50, something like that) should avoid, and that was one of them.

I've never heard that and can't think of any anatomical change that would prevent someone from doing it. If you find the article let me know because it sounds like the author doesn't understand what they're talking about lol

I can only overhead press 7.5kg (each hand) and it's been stuck like that for ages :/ In between I had progressed to 10kg, but I took a break and we're back to 7.5! For some reason my shoulder strength progression is too slow. Or maybe I'm just not training it properly. Do you think single arm overhead press and then machine overhead press might help me strengthen my shoulders more efficiently?

Definitely try changing up the modality! You can even substitute in some more horizontal pressing (like an incline chest press).
