What I realise right now...... My way of stopping is kinda the exact opposite of a Power Stop. I'm stopping while transferring from forward to backwards and spin with my right foot (pencil) around the left one (spike) just backwards..... I did never learn it that way it just came after some time. My first stop I learned as a child was a spin brake and after years it became that way....
@RicardoLino

Hehee.. we’ll totally understand you, When you get it proper you do it as a “fastslide” almost. Meaning . No spike foot needed. But I tried to break it down to beginners as much as I can with this Skillshare series I’m making by the end of each month. I hope you enjoyed this one ❤️ Lino

In powerstop, you use both legs to brake. At higher speed it can go into powerslide but basically it should be something like this unless I'm wrong: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ptZ3rc5oz97UZHU.html It is enough to turn the leader's leg against the direction of travel (as if we wanted to break the asphalt), then the other leg (pencil leg) will do the job by itself. I do it more like entering a sharp bend, putting pressure on the heels at the end and getting into a braking position.

I am 47, I stopped inline skate to switch to longboard 10 years ago. I am back on the skates and can finally do the power stop !!! You have to push real hard on the pencil foot to make it ! You can even do it going downhill just to slow you down and feel the movement. The trick is to do a real quick turn and push hard on that foot 😅🙏

My problem is I struggle to keep the inside edge while putting pressure on the heel. I either end up on center edge trying to put weight into my foot, or I lose balance shifting my weight onto the back of my foot. Not quite sure how to get the feel for it yet.

Is this harder to do with an aggressive set up? When I lean too far my frames touch and want to slide out. It happens when I turn sometimes if I cut too quick. I think I need to learn the cess slide so I don't let my skates slide out from under me. Right now I only have the stock rollerblade anti-rocker frames and oysi regular frames. I haven't used the anti-rocker frames at all, I used em once when I first got my skates and the stock plastic anti-rockers don't spin so they kept catching on stuff and dead stopping me. I replaced them with smaller diameter wheels with bearings but haven't tried them yet. I like the oysi frames but if I make turns too sharp they want to slip out.

I'm just new to the hobby. I just starter this January 2022 and I have 8 to 10 times practice but I think this is the way I am stopping and I just learned it unconsciously. The way I learned it is because I have a limited space in front of my house to practice because of humps made to hide water tubes. I am only trying to spin to turn and unconsciously learned to stop using the move in this video.

I really don't want to start learning this at my age 64 I would rather stick to my a break for two reasons 1 I don't like falling on the ground 2 I like to skate long distances. I have only got a small trail to skate it has 4 roads I have to slow down at or stop. My long skates are up too 124 km in one skate meaning I have to cross roads around 88 times my wheels would be a mess in know time. I did the 124 km in my old Rollerblade lightspeed 90mm. But their not really meant for long distance. That why I ask on video about the k2 redline if you know if you can pot the powerslide road hug break on them and I was wondering if they are a narrow or wide fit.

I am a bit confused! can manage powerslide, but I thought the difference was mainly that the “spike foot” in powerslide makes a backwards transition and keeps rolling, while in the powerstop makes only a half turn. But if I do that I find myself in a hockey/parallel slide position. In this video it looks to me like a powerstop could be a “fast, aggressive” powerslide, very similar to what I do, ending with the spike foot ready for rolling backwards. Did I accidentally practice a powerstop all this time?:)
@tommyavlastenok7960
@tommyavlastenok7960 Жыл бұрын
No. You are right. The rear foot keeps rolling in a powerslide while you make more of a quick stop with a powerstop. Ricardo has got it wrong here. But that’s very common among the self taught inline skate teachers; they mess up the terminology and confuses more than clarifies. As much as I admire Bill Stoppard, even he has a couple of early powerstop tutorials that are confusing, to say the least. But stick to your first impression. The right terminology will get clearer the more slide stop videos you watch.

I CAN’T T-STOP. After i kinda learned turning i started turning when i t-stop. So i kinda started doing this. Turn around, while compass heel is a little light it moves. And bending other foot stops and put in a v position. I thought i was quick turning but it was stopping. so i don’t know what i know. I guess i powerstop. hopefully.

The Powerstop is by far the most overrated stopping technique. It's just a messed up Powerslide with a bigger chance of injury especially when you carry some speed. To those specifically trying to learn this, just don't even bother. Focus on the Powerslide and you'll get the Powerstop as a bonus by going a little less deep when initiating the Powerslide/stop.

@@mastichka well, if u check B.Stoppard this is his go to stop. While if we are watching Lino, it's obvious that this is not his stopping method. With the way he teaches it in this clip, person can get easily thrown away of balance, and stopping effectiveness is very low. I personally trust my powerstop 110% and I can in matter of couple seconds with carving and drag stop finish with powerstop on speeds over 45kmp/h.
