Hey Kandy Man some really useful info there, I'm always interested to see how other people prep their panels for paint especially guys like yourself that a pros as I'm just a diy/hobby painter so thanks for sharing, it's the best Black Friday deal I've had for years👌🙏👍John UK.

Great advice, I always like to see how everyone tackles parts. I build my own stands. Have 35 motorcycles to do, I have a long rolling stand that can take almost every part and they spin so no walking around it. Being fleet I can get all kinds of things in huge batches to paint. Setting up parts can be a challenge and time consuming. I will take all the parts off if its easier than masking the car. I do my jobs start to finish so I just consider whats faster.

Years ago I was a sprayman for my brother's commercial paint company painting building exterior metals and refinishing passenger elevators in high-rise buildings. Kandy Man sounds just like my brother in the prep and production aspects of the biz. Funny story: I was finishing the interior of an elevator and had a 500w halogen light inside with me, the bulb ignited the fumes and flashed me inside the elevator. I was suited up and was ok, my bro said what happened? I said i need light in here, hahaha

Forward thinking k man I use stuff made up in our fabrication shop ie tressles racking etc but we have an abundance of old welders clamps so just clean them up and there good to go , industrial welders magnets work well 👏👏👏👏

I've tried to love the Kovax paper. It's just too flimsy and clogs fast. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Lots of great tips as usual. I notice you DA lot with that interface pad on your DA. Do you use that on show quality work like your Olds? Does that take away from being flat? After you do all that nice block sanding. Any ideas on how I could fab out a vacuum sander that would work close to the one you have since now I'm just a hobby painter and always make a mess wet sanding everything..

The inter face pad does great without causing problems. It just refines the scratch .I've seen guys make vacuum sanders. Out of shop vacs. Check online. Sure, you can find some info.

Should try using zip-ties instead of clamps, they work great for holding parts while painting!! I use them at the shop I’m at & they are cheaper than buying clamps!!

Do you use the organic cleaner before the solvent cleaner for a reason? And you should patent & make that dowel clamp, so you can sell them.
@kandyman5315

When prepping I clean and scuff with organic cleaner first. Then solvent when in booth final on most job other than bare metal jobs is organic cleaner last to cut down on static
