The City of Light is turning into the city of bed bugs. Paris is ground zero of a bed bug epidemic. The creepy crawlers are said to be everywhere in Paris, including hotel rooms and trains. It's causing lots of anxiety for tourists and celebrities returning to the United States from Paris Fashion Week. There are now fears that some fashionistas returning home may unwittingly bring back bed bugs.

It messed me up So bad that to this day if I see a black spot I freak out! We had dumpster diver neighbors who brought them into our row of townhouse’s. I got rid of so much A barely took anything with me and moved in less than 2weeks after finding out they had them. This was more than 14yrs ago but bed bug ptsd is no joke. It still affects me to this day.

Lavender is said to repel bed bugs. Also camphor but you probably don't want to walk around smelling like camphor while in Paris. If you want to try camphor, most chest rubs contain it.

@@peps1943 - you can take 91% alcohol and spry it on your mattress when changing your sheets. Let it air dry - does it in minutes. Helps keep all sorts of nasties down.

I remember bed bugs almost kicked me out my apartment had to hit them the reverse uno card. Weapons of choice hair dryer, shrink wrap, laundry dryer, Bissell vacuum and Time 3 months of it.

That doesn't matter, you can pick them up anywhere. From the grocery store, a friend's house, picking up a child from school, etc. They hide in the seams of mattresses, box mattresses, couches, chairs, walls and everywhere you don't see.

yes living in NYC apartment ..certain ones would have outbreaks .. i was OCD .. even long distance moving vans .. U pay a fortune ‘n they put other peoples possessions in same van .. besides breaking Ur stuff .. cross contamination .. OCD good .. an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cute ,)

Use kidney bean leaves as another way to stop them moving in track and multiply as their Foot ( bed bug ) gets stuck in the tiny hooked hairs on the leaf surfaces ( sharp microscopic trichomes ) , Just spread the leaves around the bed and around the floor as a trap. This is a good alternative for someone trying to avoid pesticides and also for low cost solution .

To be on the safe side ... Before bringing in any Luggages inside the house , put them on the front porch with the front gate closed , prepared cockroach killing grade insecticide to spray on the wheels , zips then take out all clothings & put them inside plastic bag to be wash in high heat later , spray the inner zip & hiding places of the luggages & let them sun before cleaning & polishing them with furniture liquid wax or antiseptic spray. Same goes with our leather shoes & with sneakers I sprayed them with anti cockroach spray before washing them! Never bring home bedbugs especially inside our bedrooms , there will a lot more work to get them if bedbugs infested our bedrooms , we needed Professinal Help! 🙏

Most chemicals don't work on bedbugs anymore. The best policy for them is to wash and dry clothes with hot temp settings. And anything that can't go in a washer to steam them. You can freeze things for a week to kill bedbugs, but sealing them up at room temp takes at least a year.

Rubbing alcohol, 91% concentration. But don't use very much, because it is flammable. It's no safe to make your bed, etc., more flammable than it already is.

Sprays usually don't work very well. You need professional exterminators if you don't want to do battle with them for a year or more. In my last apartment building the landlord hired a guy to heat treat the apts. It worked, 24 hours later and no bugs.

I know for fact that the sprays didn't work. I had to pay $800 to get it done by professionals. It was gone after the first time. After that I threw half of my stuff out including my furniture. I would rather have nothing at all than bed bugs again.

Sprays don't work unless you spray the bugs directly. You have to remember the hundreds of them hiding that you didn't get, and they will breed like crazy. Also they can live a year without feeding too

I read a warning to not use rubbing alcohol, because it is flammable. If people spray it on their beds/linens, it makes your bed more flammable. I wouldn't want to breath in that air, either.

I saw videos where people found that steam cleaning with a hand-held steam cleaner is best. You do it 2 or more times a week, getting into seams of bed, couch, etc. Even wood furniture. Plus, like he said, putting your clothes and linens on high heat in the dryer.
