I have been working on building my own bows first one broke second one was going for 50 pound wound up with 9.2 pound lol.but I made a bow and flimish twist string. Thank you for all of your encouraging videos.

I use the red spool (China) serving material on my reverse draw Ballista Bat pistol crossbow string and from my experience that stuff has held up very well. It takes a very sharp knife to cut it.

I'm compiling supplies to build my own home compound bow maintenance station. I've got materials to make a crude/effective bow press, I've got enough lumber leftovers to make a string jig and a twisting jig. I work with steel often, I can make serving spool jigs from sheet steel(BTW, that serving spinner with the drill is genius, and I will likely be copying that concept once I get things moving with the basics). Eventually I'm going to make a medieval style crossbow(I do the blacksmithing thing too), and figured this would be a great way to prepare for that project, as it's going to need a beast string made for it custom. I enjoyed your video, and I hope all goes well with your product testing and such with Patreon

Man I'm lovn ur vids! I'm a like a fish, gotta keep moving. I'm a mechanic by trade but have a love for archery and I enjoy do all the maintenance and set ups on my bows. This is a great video sir, keep swimming my friend! Fyi I would be honored to do any testing for you guys.

Great video. I’m a very small time, basically hobby grade string maker and I also have a Bear paw serving tool you call “the bomb”. Of all my serving tools It’s my very least favorite because to me it seems to have a very inconsistent tension as the serving pays out off the spool, it’s perfect when it’s in the center and gets tight as it gets towards the edge of the spool. Have you done anything to improve your Bear paw’s performance or maybe I have a bad one?

hey you need to do a video on string brake in, my brace hight keeps changing after i got a new string from you and i don’t know when to stop correcting my brace hight or if i’m torching this string buy doing these corrections.!!!!

I am sure your method serves you well but if I use your method and I spin the jig quickly the way you do the serving separates , so I keep my jig fairly tight, wrap slowly, and it comes out perfect every time, Aren't you supposed to serve the string from left to right?

You should add an equal amount of weight to the other side of that drill jig, to lower/eliminate the bouncing.

Thanks for the video . Got a 20 dollar serving jig. I am struggling with knowing how much tension to put on it or in other words how tight to serve the center serving ?

DTRX: Here is my advice since no one answered. Just keep it snug be smooth and don't worry about getting supper tight because that is not good either. Technique and wrapping the correct direction is more important. Many serving tools will click if you are excessively tight. I don't know why.
