THANK YOU!!!! I have finally found a very quick and easy way to make pickles from all my cucumbers from my garden. I eat a lot of pickles, so this is so convenient and quick. Thank you again for an amazing video. Now that I have watched this video, I can't wait to watch all your videos soon. Best wishes and God Bless.

I can't believe you recommended reusing the brine from store bought! I've been doing that for a while! I actually asked for the huge plastic "barrel" of leftover brine after all the pickles were sold at the local gas station. Why not?! You just gave me confirmation.

I'm upset as I have always poured out my brine from the Habernaro pickles I buy. Well, that will change now. Yay!!!

I'm not using public brine, anymore, years ago was a different story. We would reuse the pickled pig feet and deviled egg pickling juice to do more eggs. I'm not so fond of something others may have fondled, lately though.

Be still my heart! Love Amanda Freitag and didn't know this was her video when I clicked on it, so pleasant surprise! Excited to pickle some rhubarb, red onion with ACV. Not going to make the mistake of not adding sugar as was the case last round cause my highfalutin/savory only/no sugar needing ass didn't think a brine could be too salty/vinegary.

Great vid! I have a few questions: 1) can you use any kind of water like tap (or does it have to be spring , distilled, drinking water, etc) 2) I dnt like sweet pickles can leave it out or is it needed as a part of the process? Great tip at the end. I did this with red onion and didn't boil it the left over juice.... turned out great.

I reuse the pickle juice and put in a washed and thinly sliced cucumber. Shake put in frig. After a few days it's yummy on sandwiches. I also save my store bought jars to reuse for left overs, drinking glasses, yogurt, kefir, etc...
@occo90723 жыл бұрын
To reuse empty store bought jars like from: spaghetti, curry, pickles, baby food, basically anything that comes in a glass jar with a metal lid, is better than plastic any day. Forgot to say keep the lids too. Soak then wash in hot soapy water, air dry both jar and lids. After dry put lids on correct jars and store for future use. For drinking glasses, I do the same thing as the lids keep dust, spiders, and what not out of the glasses.

You pickle like I do late in the fall, after garden is over and I'm rested.. just start pulling out the stuff in the back of the fridge, buy last of season stuff from farm market and throw it all together ! It's nice to not have go through all the sanitizing steps of regular canning. THANKS !

It is a fresh food, so eat within a week. I have even easier recipe. My husband is a chef, so that is how we do it. For example to quick pickle onions - just sprinkle vinegar, water, sugar on top of onion slices and toss them in bowl. Let them sit 10 min and ready.

I would not add the sugar as then you have sweet pickles.
@Brooksi3333 жыл бұрын
Nope not true, that just depends on how much sugar you add... but this long time Pickler advises that u to at least add a bit or make a small batch with it and without it to see the difference 🤔🤷♀️🥒✌️✨
@Pamgram1mo3 жыл бұрын
@@Brooksi333 I just like sour and hot pickles. I always check the ingredients as most of these hot pickles have sugar in them. I tried that once, but never again. Hate sweet pickles. My mother loved sweet pickles and bread and butter pickles. I know the taste of them all. Oh, I do drink the pickle juice from the Clausen brand of pickles.
@Brooksi3333 жыл бұрын
@@Pamgram1mo 😆 I don't do the sweet pickles either 🙅♀️, I'll make them but I certainly don't partake... (My mom loves them too 🤢😝) ... But I WILL definitely help myself to some delicious pickle juice 😬🍻

So if you're a psycho like Bobby Flay who adds grenadine to your pickles, does the water have to be discounted? I'm experimenting with flavors, and I'm not sure how to deal with additional liquids.

These are not fermented pickles like the ones you are talking about, there is no lacto-fermentation taking place. We are talking about two different methods.
