Thank you very much! Very simple and very well explained. The useless Scottish Power video says, for a multi rate tariff, “the other rates will follow”. This is completely false and the video should not be watched by people with day and night metering.

So much joy from such a helpful video. It is meant to be "self-reading smart reader" but Octopus couldn't read it or even tell me how to read it. Now I've got day, night and standing charge plus bills, useage etc.

Hello, I got there by trial and error but could not repeat it!! So rather than go through it all again I looked at KZfaq. You have done a fantastic job here. Thank you VERY much. I agree about the two rates. Useless information on meter as to which is which. For our amusement we asked our electricity provider EDF and they had absolutely no idea as to how to do this!!!! To be fair, the person who answered the 'phone was as helpful as she could be but they had provided her with no information as to the button pressing sequence!! We then asked how we look at their data hub so we can see how we are getting on and their software does not support a multi rate meter!!!! Unbelievable!! Thanks again. RC1 Ps, We are getting estimated meter readings since smart meter was installed and they asked us to supply the kWhr values. How can we do this if they cannot tell us what buttons to press?? Crazy!!

Hi. Thanks again for a most helpful and clear video. We have just changed suppliers and so access to this info was extremely useful and as so many of your other contributors have already said you get absolutely little or no help from the smart meter installers. There still seems some confusion over which 'R' reference is Day/Night but as our RT 1 number is approximately twice as large as the RT 2 number, it seems a reasonable assumption that RT 1 is the Day reading .... Thank you again for sharing.

Thanks so much for sharing this. Our meter was fitted 2-3 years ago without any explanation or handbook, so I have been unable since to figure out how to access the differential consumption figures. We ended up being overcharged last time the tariffs changed as they overestimated our usage and then at the appropriate billing date showed a negative electricity usage - which was refunded at the lower rate!!! I didn't pursue it - life-s too short, but this time I will submit the actual readings. Thanks again :)

Mines like that but it’s a block of flats. So mines with plot number. Would this be the same way. also I just need to know what I’m using with British Gas. They don’t give you an option to submit rate 1 and 2 on the app

General rule of thumb to know which is day or night reading is, by logic you would be using most in daytime less in night time, so, Bigger figure is day, lesser would be night! 😊😊😊😊

If its scottish power, forget it. They dont even know what kind of meter you have. I get bills for a card meter yet I have no card meter, I have a smart meter and pay by direct debt.
