You did a good job fixing up that trailer. What a shock to hear you are selling it all at the end of the video, I was not expecting that. If I was younger I’d be giving this some serious consideration. It’s a lot of work to have a boat but I do miss those days. Will pass this on to others.

Nothing related to maintenance but after years of selling various forms of Watercraft the quality of the trailer seems to be the most overlooked feature, especially with the personal Watercraft customers as they will opt for the cheapest model with wheels. The more experienced boat owners have learned the value of a quality name brand trailer after being stranded on the road from a disabled trailer. This is a very important video for the folks with little trailer experience and why trailer maintenance is very critical and why any tire over 4 years old should only be swinging from a tree.

What did you do With the boat while you were working on the trailer ?

I was changing bearings on a large, heavy trailer. I looked down and recognized that my legs were on either side of the end of the axel and thought this is a dangerous position to bee in. I scooted back and pulled my legs back. The trailer fell of the blocks I had it on. My legs would have been crushed. For the last fifty something years I have asked myself why at that point in time where the trailer was not moving did I choose to withdraw?

Don't know if that was salt water you were in but most salt water marinas will have a fresh water washdown area near the boat ramp. Avail yourself of this area ASAP after pulling your boat from the water & wash your boat & trailer throughly.

Why not diamond plate for the wheel wells?

If you hadn't, make sure to repack your axle bearings, very critical item.

Manufacturers will tell you trailer tires are only good for 5 years from date of manufacture listed on the tire. Learned this the hard way when my separated.

That primer is not supposed to be used on galvanized metal

Never let your tires sit out in direct weather. Remove them and bring them into the house and put them next to the bed...Rock and Roll...

Paint with Hammer rite. Amazing stuff. Rust-Oleum has turned garbage.
