The replacement cylinders all have buttons that stick up too much so that even if you loosen or fully remove the set screw it's always activated (the chair goes into the full up position without weight on it, and sinks to the bottom position when weight is on it).

I just received my Leap V2 from Crandall and the cylinder is saggy, so I gotta do this. This process is awful... it's not working. I see the tab...press it with the screwdriver ... Seat will not release...#$@&#! Why can't these cylinders be preset at the factory...?

Doesn't the pipe wrench damages the cylinder? The deep scratches it does can't cause any harm long term?

Maybe minor scratches but doesn't effect the performance at all

@@CrandallOfficeFurniture You saved my ass. Thank so much for sharing! I don't know if the side activated cylinder is considered an older design [vs. that Allen wrench] - but I managed to align it a bit better. I stopped cause I thought I'd puncture the cylinder, but if it goes 90 degrees away again- then I know what to do next.
