Thanks for the video, great job explaining everything. For those wanting to do this to the rear door, there is only one screw attaching the regulator to the window. You'll see it when it goes down far enough. It's a pain to remove, make sure you don't strip it. Get a bit that fits tight and get as much leverage on it as possible. I'll probably replace it with a bolt when putting it back together. Good luck everyone!

Well done. I just bought a 2009 Sonata & the power lock cable on the passenger door wasn't working. I wasn't sure how to remove the inner door panel to fix it, I found this very helpful, I didn't know about the window track being attached to it! Thank you, nice work.

Quick question my driver side door handle when pulled does not extend all the way out so it’s kind of like.. if it were a door knob it opens with only half of a turn. And it opens on its own while driving sometimes.. any Idea on why it doesn’t pull all the way out??? Thanks for the video I appreciate it.

You can take out the handle easily by opening the hole on the side of the door, you don’t even need to take out the door panel. I have another video of a Hyundai Sonata on my channel under the Hyundai Playlist. That video will probably show you more details on that.

Rear left window in my 2010 Elantra is acting like it has popped out of the track or something. Will only go half way up. Will be taking apart tomorrow. Anything different between the front and rear doors?

Everything should be the same except it will have way less electric connections

Got it done. Thank you. lower bolt that holds the back side of the window track had the nut loosen up and fall off, derailing the window. NOW, I still could not completely get the metal panel off! I removed the torx around the latching mechanism and also completely removed the door handle assembly. But toward the rear of the door that piece of window track (inside the door) is in between the door handle mechanism and the door latch preventing me from completely removing the metal panel. There are two small rivets that anchor the whole latch/handle assembly right where the two sleeved cables (for the inside door lock/handle) to the inner metal panel. Any idea how to over come this? Thanks again!

@@jasmwhite1 I ran across this video when I was struggling with the same exact thing on my rear door. I was finally able to remove the metal panel by removing that rear track that holds the back part of the window. There's a bolt that holds the bottom end of that track. Once removed, you have to get the window all the way up, push that track outwards and wrestle with the latching mechanism/door handle to get it out through the gap that you create when moving it out of the way. I was able to get large enough gap to get it out. It's a pain, but it's possible. This will expose everything on the inside of the door. I cut those rivets off that you mentioned, but it didn't do anything. I made a lot of mistakes removing this, but luckily I'm heading to the junkyard tomorrow and will document how everything goes back. I know it's a year old, but other folks may have the same question! Sorry for the long reply, just thought this would be helpful for anyone else running into this same issue.

@@jasmwhite1 that track thats in the way has 2 bolts one at top and one at bottom. I loosened those and bent that plastic track a tiny bit so i could sneak the door lock mechanism past that part.

Had to replace the whole inside panel because the window track is built in.. How do I take the dual handle cables out of the old panel?? Take apart the handle?

I have a 2009 Hyundai Sonata. Both exterior and interior door handles are broke on the drivers side door . I can't open the door. What is the best way to cut out the door panel to unlock the door and replace the handles?

I don’t think you have to cut the panel, it’s hard to give you a solution without seeing it but you should be able to take out the handles either interior or exterior and try pulling the wire manually. Obviously make sure lock is open, that way you should be able to open the door

What is a Philips/star screwdriver...They make plastic tools for removing door panels so you don't mess them up with a screwdriver!

Yes if you have it you can use it, but my videos are made for the average joe that doesn’t have special tools but just a basic everyday tools

I can not loosen the two bolts in the holes because the window is stuck down and the glass is in the way

We had that issue on a Sonata last week (we are posting the video next week) what you have to do is take off the window motor and manually turn it. It’s easy, the sonata had a different set up but it’s 3 bolts and then you manually turn it one way for up and the other for down

Garage Boys I have the exact same issue where my window sounds like it's grinding when I press the up switch. I took everything off but the window doesn't raise. How does the window motor get removed?

Alright so my 08 Elantra had one of the metal wires that moves the pulley up and down all tangled. I found that out when I removed the regulator face with the three torx screws. I lifted the metal panel as far as I could outwards with the glass all the way down, used a wrench to loosen the two 10mm bolts tightened on the glass. Then I was finally able to lift the glass. That's how I was able to get past the step that you're stuck at.

No you use a plastic panel tool so you dont scratch the door

@@GarageBoys yes but i am telling you it just won't f*ing work. I tried to fix my neighbors window, it was off track, took a while but i fixed it, except (drivers side) the left part keeps coming out of the track, so i added some adhesive and im letting it dry. I try to put the panel back on and NO MATTER HOW I put the panel on it wont align with the screwholes. I try from the top first then i tried to shimmy it, finangle it, hammer it, checked too see if there was anything in the way... etc... i ended up putting the plastic rivet things through and forcing it to stay still long enough to close the door

That’s weird, there must be something interfering with the panel or maybe something reinstalled backwards or something bended. But I’m just shooting blanks, it’s hard to know without looking at it.... good luck

I was just getting frustrated sorry if i seeemed rude, nothing more frustrating than working on someone elses vehicle and its not doing what it supposed too. I seen 2 videos on putting the panel back on and it just wont do the same for me. The window was a quarter up does that matter? I didnt have the keys for that part.
