Last year an oil change place stripped out my oil pan drain plug so I tried to stop my oil leak on my 2005 Civic EX by tapping and using a Time-Sert insert. Continued oil leak. Tried several times with more inserts to no avail. Used a different tap and drain plug. Still oil leak that seemed to get worse. Replaced the oil pan. Oil leak continued. Saw this video and repaired the Vtech solenoid's cracked gasket. Forgot how the bracket went back on so I reviewed your video and saw the bracket's proper position. No more oil leak!! Thank you so much for the video.

By far the best step by step, most people forget the Phillip's screw underneath and the side sensor clip before removing the air filter housing. Helped me out a lot, and would've ruined a sensor if I didnt watch this through! 👍👍

Really good video, just what I was needing, only my Honda Civic EX is a 2003 but still the same, (mostly). Oh, the music was a little weird, I keep waiting to see a bellie dancer show up. 😁😁👍😍😍

Is this a vtec solenoid or shift solenoid or are they the same?

Vtec solenoid

Can you tell me if the unit that you rebuilt was the original unit on the car? I plan to change gaskets on my son's car, which has the same mark(brand) on the units case. I've heard that aftermarket parts are prone to premature failure and would rather not put new gaskets on junk.

Thank you for the great video! My 2001 Honda Civic is leaking engine oil. I can see the oil is from the top and goes to the front. Vtec solenoid is on the back. Should I replace the vtec solenoid gaskets too or it's irrelevant?

Thank you for your support and If I were you and know what your doing then it’s best to replace the gasket.

Great video! Did you ever crack open the oil pressure switch? Are there supposed to be 2 o rings?

I never tired that, but wanting to do a video on it due to a leaky oil pressure switch..

@@QB_Magic I'll be keeping an eye out on it. Just replaced my engine with a JDM one and didn't think to check that before getting rid of the old one

Great video my man! One question… do I need to replaced if I have a code on my engine or should I just swap the part out… thank you!!
@noahsanders5398 Жыл бұрын
Did it fix your problem? I have a P1259 code, the VVT Electronic Control System Malfunction, and didn't want to spend $100+ if that's not the root cause.
@cae7849 Жыл бұрын
@@noahsanders5398 id check fuses first and if they good look for other problems that could cause it from cheap to expensive
@Majorproblem689 Жыл бұрын
@@noahsanders5398 I'm not certain if it was that exact code but previously I've had a Vtec failure code. All it ended up being for me was low oil, I topped it up and cleared the code and it was a-okay. If you don't have enough oil, your engine won't be able to build up enough oil pressure to activate Vtec and that causes it to fail to activate, causing (at least in my case) the car to violently jerk and be unable to rev above 3200~rpm. Hopefully this helps anyone else that comes along this.

Good with the text inserted but the music can go , Verbal instructions would have helped more

Question, if I have a P1259 code for a malfunctioning Vtec solenoid, does it mean I need to replace the solenoid or would I solve it by just replacing the gaskets inside? Thank you by the way, I finally know why I’m leaking oil so bad, mechanic is trying to scam me into replacing all the other seals in the engine
@QB_Magic8 ай бұрын
If it has code for it then you need to replace the solenoid.. the gasket is there to stop the oil from leaking..
@shivabachoo29825 ай бұрын
If the solenoid gasket is bad wil it cause oil run all over the engine
@jasonbabore1535 ай бұрын
Yeah. Any bad gasket will cause leaks.

I have a oil leak coming from that area I don't think it's my head gasket but I have alot of oil coming out but I can't see back their let me check now cause I didn't know where the vtec was

If your just having a oil leak problem than its the VALVE COVER GASKET
