There is too much hard water damage on the laundry faucet to bother cleaning it. I will show you how I replaced this faucet which hooks up to my washer for about 20 minutes of your time and $5. The water will need to be shut off first. Remove the old spigot and wrap some teflon tape on the new once before installing it. Once installed, give it a quick test.

Your job is easy when you have access to the bottom of the washer box, most boxes are mounted it the stud cavity and finished with drywall

Thanks for the video. Is it possible to screw the top part of the valve off, if you did not have access to the bottom / underneath of the valves? I'm trying to avoid cutting the drywall below the valves...

Do I really need to fix the water valve faucet if it only leaks a bit when the water is shut ? (Same as what the guy in the video had). I mean it will be hooked to a washing machine and it doesnt leak when the hose is on. I only noticed it because I unhooked my washing machine to repaint the closet. Unfortunately my water valve box is also blocked by a drywall.

I know you asked this 2 years ago, but the faucet should be replaced: 1) it is failing and it can start leaking from the stem and/or worse 2) the next time you have to unhook the hose it will leak, leak worse or won't be able to shut off because it corroded up.

Having this problem now with hot water instead of the cold. Must get a plumber to fix it. How much should it cost? I don't want to be overcharged thanks

My faucet was leaking on the hot side (red). I replaced a new one like you but it is still leaking from the base, what could be the problem? Do I need to cut the drywall to see it was leaking from the stem?

So my two shut offs have drywall around the box so I have no access to push up the valve and it’s socket. There is a hex base just coming out of the base of the valve I might be able to get a wrench on while I screw the faulty valve faucet. Wound that work. Nice video but you assume everyone has access to the bottom of that framed in assembly with absolutely no offense intended. You comments would be appreciated.

Hey, yes, it sounds like the hex base should be attached to the pipes and the value should be able to unscrew from there. The builder should have left this option exposed, but I'm not 100% sure. Maybe take a pic and ask on reddit or ask at home depot to be sure.

Cut an access hole in the drywall. Make a little removable cover with plastic or thin plywood or something.

Fairly easy if you have access to the bottom but I don’t. I would have to cut my drywall.

That’s the wrong Teflon tape. It should be blue. The red is for gas.

The white tape (not the label color) is for basic thread seal and correct for his application. Altho, I think he should have used more wraps and there's a better technique than shown. Yellow tape is for gas.

Is the screw on top of the faucet loose and in need of tightening?

@@DIYandSAVE it was and I tightened it but the handle is broken and it spins. I dont find that specific handle anywhere only, I'll go to lowes and see if I can find one that fits Thank you.
