I paid £5000 for a new roof but they used cheap felt so it's not breathable enough so it rains from the condensation inside I've tried to increase airflow i am going to increase it more with more lap vents any other advise? Also going to use a air brick up high on the brick side

Just one chance to insulate the sloping ceiling with some 50mm rigid insulation, before reroofing and you blasted over it, bet the home owners not even aware of the money going through his roof.
@qrsroofing Жыл бұрын
Don’t make silly assumptions Rob, I give my clients all the options. They refurbed the property the month after this job so all the ceilings were coming down.
@Mt3Dpdrtk Жыл бұрын
Sloping ceiling? You mean insulate between ceiling joists. Insulating against the rafters is asking for condensation unless you want to piss about with VCLs and roof vents.
@Orgakoyd10 ай бұрын
@robbroadbent3964 Are you aware of the concept of a cold roof?

The ceiling is where the roof should be insulated which it clearly is. You don't insulate the rafters unless you plan to live in the attack.

My roof (Edwardian house) doesn’t have a breathable membrane installed. First I thought it was a bad thing but later discovered the benefits of being able to see when a tile shifts out of place then just push it back into place from the inside 😂
@flyingwithliney8 ай бұрын
I can only wish I could do this 🤣
@nazty1215 ай бұрын
Doesn't that allow moisture to build up inside though? Mine has been condensing and water droplets collecting in the eaves which is leaking through to the bedroom ceilings below.

What's the difference between just having a membrane and having OSB boards underneath. I have green boards, a membrane, then tiles. The green boards now have white mould growth on them, and I've been told I should get the entire roof replaced. The quotes I have include osb sheet,not sure why though.
@qrsroofing Жыл бұрын
What area are you in Neil? Places that suffer with high winds like Scotland often add structural OSB to the rafters to add strength. We are based in London and we almost always go directly on the rafters directly with breather membrane.
