Pro tip. The lock cylinder has a code on it. The last 4 of the code is your key code. This is the mechanical cuts of your key. Most Honda and Acura vehicles will have your key code stamped on all lock cylinders.

George, you saved my tearing apart my replacement glovebox. This worked as described. I used a ice pick of sorts. Thanks for posting this!!!

Thank you. I was so excited to get my replacement glove box, but then couldn't figure out how to get the lock out. A paperclip did the job for me!

Good instructions, but a word of caution - pull the spring clip out very slightly, only enough to release the lock cylinder but not so far as to pull the clip off. If it pulls out and falls into the concealed space between the front cover and the glove box body it will be almost impossible to get it back out. This happened to me when I was replacing the glove box with a used one I bought at the junkyard. After the clip got lost inside the glove box I had just bought, I carefully removed the clip from the original glove box which had a broken latch and carefully re-installed it into the new glove box.

Like a few other people I pulled the clip out too far and lost it inside the glove box. Luckily I had the old clip but it took a while to figure out that I had to and how to remove the plastic latch cover in order to put another clip back on. The plastic latch handle has a retention point that you have to pry up and push/slide it off.

I'm having the exact trouble, how did you manage to get the handle off? Can't seem to do it without possibly breaking it. Thanks.

What is the indicator that cylinder is needed to be replaced my issue is that i cant open the glove box the handle is there i can pull on it it moves out maybe half inch but thats all its not locked it just wont open is that my issue or its something else
