1A Auto shows you how to repair, install, fix, change or replace a broken or snapped power door lock actuator. This video is applicable to the 06, 07, 08, 09, 10 VW GTI
This repair was done on a 2010 Volkswagen GTI and the process should be similar on the following vehicles:

I can confirm that this video is for the MK6 Golf/GTI (2010-2014). Just swapped my latch on a 2011 GTI and this video matched perfectly

Extremely well done! Going to do the driver's door on a 2009 Passat CC - looks very similar to the GTI door here? Notice some talk about taking the outer steel skin off the door, whereas you have taken the interior card off. Do you know why there are different approaches?

What do you think would cause the outer door handle to not work but the interior door handle to work as normal? I feel like it's similar to the trunk where the whole actuator can just go bad on you without rhyme or reason, but I had this issue out of no where this morning and I'm thinking I need to replace the actuator. From the knocker cutout, it appears to be gunked up a bit. Is this kind of failure possible?

How is this done on the 2012 VW Golf 2.5L MK6 base model. Mine does not have the access cover for door actuator instead only has the interior panel that is held on by rivets

Für alle, genau so auch beim Golf 6 2008-2012 3 Türer, beim 5 Türer muss der Agregateträger rausgenommen werden. For all, same at Golf MK 6 2008-2012, 2 doors.

I have an 06 and the door is completely different. There is no hole like that to reach through. No videos online anywhere.

I see your door is open, How do you open the passenger door when you can’t open the door as the actuator is in the locked position so you cannot gain access to the screw heads that hold the actuator in place, there is a way of doing it without removing the door card or damaging the door skin

I put my electric window down and opened the door from the inside and the outside simultaneously using the handles; I also had my wife press the lock/unlock buttons on the inside and presto! Was able to open it! Now to change the actuator/lock!
