I thought this video was great. Very well done and informative. I have a 2011 Audi A4 Avant and I was able to do both of my front brakes in less than two hours (some bolts were pretty suborn) following this video. Thank you very much for publishing it.

Exactly like my 2014 A4. Thanks so much, followed you're instructions to success! Only wish was better video on where to lube everything. The powerstop pad and rotor kit I bought had a diagram, but it was difficult to decipher by this first timer. Nonetheless, the job is done, the brakes are working and I don't hear any squeaks, grinds or rattles. A++++ DIY instructions!!!

At last. One of the best brakes video ever. Focusing on AND showing key steps. Can you post one on bleeding the calipers please!? And btw after reinstalling brake pads and rotors should one bleed the system? I had to reinstall brake lines as well so now I need to bleed the calipers...

Hi Jim, thanks for the great video. I have a question regarding resurfacing the rotor. How did you do this? Do you have video showing this. Thanks an best wishes

Jim, Great presentation. Very thorough. Local Dealer wants 2k for front and back. RAPE. I'm at 93000 miles the pads start at 10mm and now I'm at 5mm waiting for the sensor to sound at 3mm. We should get another 30k out of the current pads.

Hi Jim, I followed your tutorial on my 2010 A4 for the front rotors/pads. I am getting a soft pedal now...started right away and after 150mi on new brakes it's still occuring. I didn't open up the fluid system at all. I had a very difficult time installing the anti-rattle clips and am wondering if that is a sign of something, but ultimately i got them in. Is this normal? Any thoughts on what this could be?

I have a 2014 A4 - the Brakes are squeaking and still have 1cm of pad left on a car with 38k miles. Took to dealer and after 3 days and having them contact Audi Germany engineers they said they needed to 'grease the caliper pins'. Brakes were quiet for 3 days, 4th day squeaking is back. Any recommendations you can offer? I'm leaning towards replacing the pads with ceramic at this point - thoughts?

Great video, thank you for your time and contribution. The brake sensor light on my wife's car just came on, how much time do I have before I should replace them? Should I resurface or replace rotors everytime I change pads?
@jimthecarguy5 жыл бұрын
Most of the time when the light comes on there is little time left and should be replaced ASAP. Rotor today are really cheep . I would recommend to replace them at the same time. Thanks for watching

Hey Jim, I like this video demo. I got a question about replacing my brake pads on my Audi A6 2013. It's has a 3.0L TFSI motor. I was wondering what technique you might recommend if I need to push the pistons (within the calipers) further into the cavity so I can fit the thicker new pads. Some people on the Audi-forum mentioned something about using this computer to retract the pistons. I think it has something to do with Audi's electronic parking brakes. Any advice would help. Thanks!

If you are replacing the rear brakes watch this video I will show you how to retract the rear brake caliper.. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mqeEqJZizrXGhqs.html The front piston is just pushed back manually.If you need any further advice let me know.

Hey jimmy, Followed your video and did 2013 a4 rear brake successfully. Thanks again for your video. And now I am trying to do front. Just curious do I have to open brake fluid reservoir cap or suck out extra brake fluid while pushing piston back? Thanks
@jimthecarguy6 жыл бұрын
paige As long as you did not over fill the reservoir you will not have to withdraw any fluid.
@jamesdenigris84666 жыл бұрын
Jim, I did this exact job today. Followed your guidance exactly step by step. It’s all back together and now every time I go over a lane reflector or any bump it sounds like everything is rattling loose. If I apply light break pressure as I go over a bump it does not rattle but when break pedal pressure is released it goes right back to rattling. The rattle clip was not damaged and re installed cleanly. So I am now stumped. Do I need to glue the outer pad back in like it was from factory? The stud in the back of the pad did slot into the hole easily when reinstalling.

Great video. Thank you. Do you have any recommendations on what brand of pads / rotors to use? I do have an Advanced Auto near me. Do you recommend pads from them? Thank you again
@Jackdman254 жыл бұрын
Do not get your brake pads and rotors for your Audi from Advance Auto parts. Check the brake kits at the ECS tuning website

I noticed that you tightened the bolts with a breaker bar been doing it a long time and prefer to torque them down is there a setting that Audi recommends for the Caliper bolts?

Thx for the audi front brake pads video! What's the lubricant you used? What's the usual cost to resurface the rotors? Thx Michael
@espi33246 жыл бұрын
Michael Lambrinov You can use any basic hydraulic brake lube. Resurfacing is about $15 per rotor at an auto part store but I would recommend buying new rotors. That metal can only take so many heat cycles before it starts to warp then you get major vibrations when stopping at high speed.
@Mr396chevyman7 жыл бұрын
Did you have to syphin any brake fluid? Thanks great video.

You might have to depending how much is in the master cyl.

Which way does the brake sensor on the pad go back on?
@jimthecarguy6 жыл бұрын
The sensor goes into the hole in the inner pad and then the wiring points into the the center of the car.
@msk39056 жыл бұрын
I did not see you push the caliper piston back in before you went to install the new pads? Did you skip this step and more importantly does a 2015 A4 require the piston to be screwed in like the prior model did?
@alejandrojarquin77756 жыл бұрын
Michael S he pushed it in in the beginning with a screw driver before he took anything off thats y he said it will help u in the future then when your done push the drakes to push it back out
