New CV Axle Shaft Set from 1AAuto.com 1aau.to/ia/1AACS00248
A CV axle has flexible joints. Often, these joints wear out, or seize from contaminants due to the protective boot tearing open. A worn joint is prone to breakage, or other hazards. If your vehicle needs a new CV axle, install a quality TRQ axle that is engineered to your vehicle’s specifications. This video shows you how to install one in your 2008-16 Chrysler Town & Country.

My work van 2012 Grand Caravan C/V has 336k on it and it was time to do the passenger C/V (driver was done about 2 yrs ago along with hub bearings). It went exactly as this video shows, except it only took one smack with my 4lb maul to separate the drive spline. Wound up being a 1 hr job and I was somewhat cautious, awaiting that gotcha moment that never came. Thanks for the video.

Thank you for the great video; I am removing the whole engine + transmission on our 2015 Chrysler Town and Country to repair the engine which is hydro locked; can't remove just the engine as can't rotate it to unbolt the torque converter bolts, at the time watching this video I am trying to unbolt the 3 bolts securing the passenger axle to engine and it is very difficult because the restricted access but watching this seems I do not need to unbolt it at all just remove the short side of the axle? the whole engine will have to be taken apart so the extension would have to be removed but seems to me if the whole thing is coming out by just removing the axle as you show here should be enough? can you confirm? Thanks!

I have a 07 with a damaged passenger front end. A-arms broken. CV joint came apart at the knuckle. Fender is gone along with front grill. My question is what else may be damaged that i should look for other than mounts and obvious signs of cracks or breaks to structures ECT

I have a 2006 g caravan and I need to do the passenger side CV. It is a very long axle. I'm curious if the whole axle is supposed to come out or does it separate into two pieces. The one I purchased is very long.

That ring that you grabbed at 2:14. Is it important? I noticed that my new axle did not come with this part so I did not put it on but now my axle has a little bit of play and "clunks" now and then. Do I need to replace it (I already threw it out)? If so, what is it called and where can I get another one?

65 foot pounds PLUS a quarter turn, for the steering knuckle bolts around 4:15, at least for the previous version like my 2005. Yep, seeing the same listed for 2009 'Strut Clevis to Knuckle Nuts = 65 + 90 degree turn'

By the way, they show taking the tie rod end off. Probably the 'correct' way, but I never do this. Steering straight for removing the brake caliper etc parts, then get in the van and turn the wheels to the opposite side from working on side. That puts the tie rod all the way out on the side you're working on. Then put a jack under to support the end of the control arm back up into line. Doing these two things gives you a lot of extra range on pulling the steering knuckle away. Then you can pull the top away and take out the driveshaft without undoing the tie rod end without much problem. Use some hanging wire to make an S hook to hang the caliper on the coil spring. Have some string to tie the steering knuckle up to the coil spring so it doesn't just fall over, this can save your ball joint boot under the knuckle, if it's old it's probably split already though. Also you're probably supposed to undo the link between the control arm and the strut end, but on an older van you may not care. With it on the strut end will probably shift around, use a screwdriver in the bolt holes to maneuver the strut end, and you may need to change the steering position but you can usually work this back on without undoing the link. Likewise maybe overextending the link boots or similar. Older van you probably don't care, correct way is probably to undo one of the link ends. For shaft extraction, I use the rope method. I have some dyneema rope that is paracord size, 1500 or 2000 pounds. Double it up, doubled length from the inner joint out past the wheel for 2 or 3 feet from the wheel. For the inner side, tie a slip not and pull the rope through, slip it on the inner CV joint and pull tight. For the outer end likewise just a knot to tie the end together, then tie a slip loop and pull the rope through. Put a sledgehammer handle in the loop. Swing the sledge and it will pull the rope and pull the joint out. Use smaller to medium swings, let it work the retaining ring into compression. May take 10 or 20 or 30 pulls but it will eventually just pull out, more easily than you would have thought, once it works the retaining clip into compression. Keep the rope in line, and keep as far away as possible, the rope has energy if it snaps and could hit you. Also put a couple towels on the rope, to dampen the energy if the rope did break. BTW I also don't even put the rope down on the narrow end of the inside joint any more, just makes it more likely to break. Get it on the metal part, get it somewhat tight, and it will grab and hold against the boot and pull, doesn't even really need to be down and in between the joint and housing. After finding the rope pulling method I consider these relatively easy, only really have to get under the van a minute to slide the new one in. Just saving you some time if you have an older van and don't care about pulling everything apart, this can be faster if you don't undo links..

At 2:14 you pulled the axle spacer off of the old CV shaft, but you did not replace it on the new CV shaft. This is an important part of you don't want a small "knock" in the front end. I learned the hard way not knowing one goes there, because the person who changed it last also left it out. Knock ensued...

It looks like you forgot to put the inner shim back on before you installed the outer end into the hub. You also forgot to shot putting the tie rod end back on the knuckel and torquing it. Funny since you did mention that in the driver's side video you did. Might want to mention those things. Thanks for the video though!
