The V-clip appears to bend at its top and bottom so it's snug with the caliper body; isn't that an installation trick as well? And what about the hardware clips that the calipers bit on? How to adjust those would help as well! This sort of helpful nitty-gritty stuff that's new is usually omitted while we all get to re-learn how to unscrew a bolt...

Pretty damn helpful. I need to do this for my rear passenger side, caliper is cracked... that torque wrench looks like it comes in handy.

Ive been struggling couple days with spongy brake pedal, before I found I mixed up with sides of my rear calipers. Here is the very easy tip when you buy calipers in pairs and install yourself - MAKE SURE BLEED VALVE IS AT THE TOP.

Thank You for the tutorial. I have to do this job for a friend of the family, and like to know what I'm getting into regarding any proprietary nuances some mfg's may have before tearing anything apart. This one looks pretty standard, and thank you for including the torque values!

There is one to be aware of. The version built in Japan has different rear calipers from the versions built in the USA and Mexico. This is why many parts companies will ask for your VIN. The first digit of a vehicle made in Japan is "J." For the USA it is "1." Mexico is "3."

Wouldn't it be easier to loosen the brake line hose from the caliper while it's still on the bracket as opposed to doing it off the bracket with a pry bar to hold it in place?

I usually buy new brake hoses when I buy new calipers, or buy new brake calipers when I need new brake hoses. A sticky caliper will overheat and may damage the brake hose. A brake hose that does not drain back may make the caliper stick, then overheat the caliper. Other times road salt has made the old brake hose fittings rusty and easy to damage during removal. 13:51 I find that it doesn't work so well if air entered the system. Having someone press the pedal and compress the air is far more effective. Sometimes it is the only thing that is effective. Maybe a pressure tank that attaches to the master cylinder is an option. Those bottle brake bleed devices are great when you only need to replace brake fluid for maintenence. 15:57 If you go that far, it's worth it to replace all the brake fluid. Old brake fluid becomes corrosive. You don't want that when you try to get the most out of your new brake parts.

"excluding japan", "fit japan" I wonder what the difference between the two products is. I searched and found that the bolt specification of the caliper mount bracket is different, is the caliper part the same? I asked several places, but none of the sellers gave me a clear answer. What's the difference?

Use a tire valve stem to temporarily block the brake hose. You can remove the brake line while the caliper is still attached, then.

Maxwell Bloomfield road crown, right rear tends to wear a bit faster. Car leans, more pressure on passenger side of vehicle
@wolfnaegeli3532
@wolfnaegeli3532 2 жыл бұрын
@@joelp8764 That makes no sense. More pressure on passenger side, should cause more wear on that side. Road crown is so subtle in most places that the difference would be minimal. Much less than the weight of the driver! And most cars have a single occupant very often; if two, chances are the passenger is a young kid. In addition there is more weight from the steering mechanism and pedals, plus most cars have the battery on the driver side, too!

Ronald Morgan the peddle feel will be high and solid. If there is air in the system, (air collapses much more than fluid) the peddle will push all the way to the floor/spongy break feel.
