How to replace rear rotors and brakes on Ford FUSION HYBRID 2019

Dealers and all mechanics quoted us around 600$ for this job, so I did it myself. This is totally DIY project with the right tools. This vehicle is 2019 Ford Fusin Hybrid Titanium trim. We replaced rear rotos and brake pads.

1....You will need 17mm Allen Socket to remove caliper sliding bolts
2....Also 15mm socket to remove caliper bracket
3....Torque wrench highly recommended for this job.
4....Caliper bolt grease.

Thank you so much for posting this - I have done brakes before on vehicles but this was different due to type of piston - has to be turned, I was little shy to take on the project but after watching your video and guidance I was able to do the rear brakes on my car. I appreciate it. thank you made this easier for me because I too did not want to pay 600 for someone else to do it have a great weekend.

Were you able to put rear emergency brake into service mode like I did?

The 2 notches on the piston face need to be facing up and down so they line up and mate with the notchs on the back of the brake pad. You now have a non-planer surface mating on your brakes causing uneven brake pressure on the pad and rotor. Gonna cease and warp in a few months! Advise pulling the pads, twist the piston 90° and all should be good if you haven't driven too many miles.

I would say the most difficult part is putting the car in and out of maintenance mode, but even that was pretty easy. I replaced both rear rotors and pads on my brother's car, he timed me on the driver's side and I had it done in 20 minutes flat, including jacking the car up and I had no power tools. I also had to use a torx T45 bit instead of the 7mm allen bit because I don't have allen bits that size. Good tutorial overall

Just make sure you lubricate for sliding pins and turn in calipers in place. Easy

Do you have to bleed your brakes after changing rotors and pads? Also, should you put the car in brake maintenance mode if you're changing your front brakes as well? Thanks for the video.

I noticed you were having trouble pushing the piston in at first then it jumped to already pushed in. How did you get it pushed on because I’m having the same issue. It won’t budge when I try to push it in

What was the reasoning behind opening up the lid in the hood?

When you compress the brake piston, the fluid in the reservoir will back up a little bit. Also I was going to check if we need to add some brake fluid after the job was done.

The hardest part of the job is taking it in and out of maintenance mode.

I honestly didn’t have any issues with putting it in service model taking it out of service mode. We just have to try a few times and it should work. Make sure to twist the piston into place.

why did you put grease on the outside of the brake pads? That makes absolutely no sense!

You dont need that tool. You put car in service mode and just push calipers in with regular brake compressing tool.

After hours of this BS, and eventually tearing the boot trying to get the piston back in on my Ford Flex, and then towing the car to my mechanic, he said, "stop trying to be a mechanic, and I'll stop trying to be a pressure washer" (I own a wash company). Enough said. Here's my $600.

Well in my video i had no problem, you turn in the piston but you also have to put brakes into service mode. You could have stuck calipers. Thanks for commenting

Some people just aren’t mechanically inclined and yes the auto shop might be the right answer for some. Don’t blame this man for trying to save a few inclined people a dollar.

Your calipers are probably bad. The piston might be rust seized in the bore. That is quite dangerous and your calipers will need to be replaces and the brakes bled.
