Helpful video. I’ve cut cages and air chiseled plenty of bearings off even at the dealership. Since he wasn’t reusing the ring and pinion it doesn’t matter if it gets nicked anyway. You can feel the pinion turning and get it right without a torque wrench but I still like checking myself with one anyway. If it was me doing it, I would’ve put the pinion in without the crush sleeve and seal until I had a good pattern.

Nice job. Provided clarity on how to perform the job. Good explanation on the backlash and shim usage. Was considering doing a gear replacement in the garage. I hesitate to do this job myself after watching. My mechanical luck the pinion shim will be wrong size. With a 4x4, going to find the transfer case gear swap next.

Does anyone know if you change your gear ratio on your truck should you change install a torque converter with a different stall speed or does it affect your torque converter at all

Hi I'm having a major problem I have a 2016 Mustang GT track pack went to purchase a new pinion and crushed sleeve but the ones they keep pulling up for my car are too small to the one I took off the 1 in your video I googled because the numbers on my rear and differential are coming up for a Ford F150I was wondering if by chance forward would make a mistake and put the wrong rear end on my car and F so how would I go about finding that part number for that pinion for an F150 to cross over to my car

How does a gear mechanic not have a rotational torque wrench? That pattern was not good, he should have pulled the pinion and added more depth. This is why I do all my own gears.😮
