Hi there! Nest pro installer senior support rep here, with hvac units, of all kinds there is no standardization to the color of wires. there are common color configurations but at the end of the day, you will want to focus primarily at the wire label and use the color as a reference point. Hope that helps!

Yes, it is pretty easy. The only problem is the old system doesn't have a C wire, but it still works fine without it.

What about power to keep the Google thermostat powered beyond the batteries?... "C"wire, right?

So, how do we know which wire goes where? I have a Honeywell Modulation thermostat with 2 wires. How do I know where they go? They are labelled A and B on the Honeywell.

How do I take off the Honeywell thermostat? I see that you remove the outer ring touching the wall, but how is that done? A straight pull, or is there a twist?

I have the two wires going to a relay in the basement that controls 240V baseboard heating. However the Nest needs continuous power. How can this be supplied? I have a green wire that is unconnected on both ends. Any way to use it?

I have the same old device. After I install the new one, It comes with code N260. Meaning no C wire. Should we just ignore it? Basically, we fully depend on the AA battery, right?

It will constantly drain the battery and have connectivity issues. Also think it has caused my transformer to go bad. I am putting my old ones back in.

This is a "How to" guide and you're just fast-forwarding through the whole thing and saying to read the instructions provided by Google Nest. Not good.

It works with any heating system. I am using it for baseboard heat.

With this ,your batteries do not recharge,and resultant messages you will receive from the nest will frustrate you no end...find another,more specific video...the two wire hookup ,needs more.

Ididnt complete setup... ithink itll work wont let me put address. but eh as long as heat works idc. Will just replace AAs and leave error code shouldve just bought another old honeywell. Old stuff is always better

Maybe next time explain what you're doing since your hand is blocking things.......or move the camera so your hand is not between camera and what your doing.

I'm watching this video in reverse. Putting my old mercury Honeywell back in. Nest SUCKS! Constant issues with conectivity. Never should have wasted my money!
