For what it’s worth both NGK and Denso plugs have a anti seize coating chemically applied to the threads from the factory. Anti seize isn’t needed on these(new). Anyone who questions this please feel free to call these respective companies. I used anti seize for years. Now I just use it on re used plugs. Awesome Channel and keep up the good work!

There's a short article on NGK's website saying exactly this as well - no need to call them. I don't suppose the anti-seize itself does any harm but I've read it throws out torque measurements because of the added slip. The plug will be installed too tightly.

I just replaced my son’s 08 Tacoma TRD spark plugs yesterday. Wow! What a difference it made in power. He bought it used, the original plugs were all mismatched with different aftermarket name or none. I installed the OEM plugs and that 4.0 came to life! He’ll be surprised when he returns from his deployment 🇺🇸 Once I replace the front rotors/pads and bearing carrier, she’ll be ready for some 4x4 trails 😎 Thanks for another awesome video 👍

My only comment would be most of us "newbies" used a standard spark plug socket with extension. I use electrical tape and wrap it around the extension and socket to make sure it never comes off. If I were a mechanic, i'd invest in yours. PS, you got me to change all my diff fluids in my 2005 4runner. Thanks for that previous video!

This is much better than Netflix. I want to thank you for everything you have done for us. Unfortunately I have had my Toyota Tacoma 1996 V6 5VZ-FE 3.4L 4WD a little bit forgotten and thanks to you this truck is little by little getting in way better condition. I have changed front and Rear differential oil, transmission oil, transfer oil, engine oil, oil oil filter, I ordered from Toyota OEM bunch of hoses. Right now I will be working with the coolant but it is not as easy as I thought. Since I have to drain the coolant from the engine block as well to put the correct coolant. So I am thinking to get new thermostat and new fan clutch. Well, if you wanted to know, thanks to you another Toyota truck is living in better conditions.

Uncle 1998 is now better than ever, climbs hills better than ever. The last person that did there vehicles were not using the correct measurements on how you described. Your introductions and other explanations were outstanding. Seen Buck's, Jiffy Lubes are just wanna be"s mechanic's they sell cheap products to damage our precious vehicle. Thanks for changing my mind. We love the way we think now, especially with wanna be's mechanics, want to see their credentials, before touching my Uncle's favorite rides. Thank u

Excellent video. NGK states it is not necessary to use anti-seize compound as it is applied at factory. When changing the plugs in a 2007 Matrix the torque setting is 18 ft/lbs or 13 ft/lbs if using anti-seize. Many youTubers use anti-seize and dielectric grease at the bottom of the coil pack. I just wish I could have you work on my Matrix or any other car. Thank you.

Does the NGK recommend to use lubricant? Do you blow out the debris before take off the old plug? Thanks for the great video.
@ferndog14614 жыл бұрын
I did this on my 2004 Camry with 135K on odometer. The valve cover gasket failed and three spark plugs had teaspoons of oil on coil rubber boots. It took time to absorb & clean the treads. I took slim long object ( long chop stick ) wrapped blue towel and kept jamming it in to absorb the oil. Regarding the copper anti seize, i would just use a few drops ( less is more ) because Denso & NKG are increasingly already precoated with anti seize material.
@ElectoneGuy4 жыл бұрын
I agree that you should be using Denso or NGK in a Toyota engine, but perhaps explain why the Autolite plug is not correct. I actually had one Honda come from the factory with Champion spark plugs.
@ramtek27024 жыл бұрын
I would suggest doing only one plug at a time so as to not mix up the plug wires (newbies). I also strongly suggest blowing out with compressed air the spark plug hole after removing the wire to prevent getting any debris into the cylinder when the plug is actually removed. I don't know why you showed us that expensive SNAP ON tool. A normal spark plug socket with an extension works just fine. Personally, I would probably have replaced the complete set of plug wires and also the distributor cap and rotor. These components are likely showing significant deterioration by the time plugs need replaced.

Is the torque the same for spark plugs on all Toyota engines?

Do you know the part number for the Denso spark plugs? All of the ones I see at auto stores hava a single irodium. However Amazon has the Denso's but I do not know if they would be the proper ones to use. They DO have the double irodium on them and if I can use those, I would do so. Thanks again. Hopefull you are still on the youtube channel.

Can you show us how to change the spark plugs in tc also thanks
@brianeighties44814 жыл бұрын
Pretty much the same from what I remember its the same for most vehicles for the most part unless you get a transversely mounted v6 and you have to remove the intake manifold to get the the plugs on the back side of the engine. Or a horizontally opposed engine like a Subaru BRZ and you have to remove the engine mount and transmission mount bolts and jack up the engine one side at a time to get to the plugs because they are beside the subframe rails.
@mickfromcov2815 Жыл бұрын
Should have mentioned two important details. 1) The required 16mm socket tool head needs to feature 6 points for this spark plug. Some spark plugs require a tool that features 12 points. 2) If you already own a socket set but need to buy a new spark plug socket tool you need to be sure that the tool features a 'Drive' that is the same size as the tools in your socket set.

Hello sir. I have issue with my 2uzfe tundra. I put anti seize on the plugs a few months ago. It has now caused a misfire, my mechanic cleaned the plugs and it fixed the problem. Now it is misfiring again. I cleaned them myself and now it is misfiring very bad. I think there is left over anti seize in the spark plug threads in the heads. Any way i can clean the anti seize out of the threads in the head? Brake parts cleaner? Thank you. I used aluminum based anti seize
@billthompson3014 жыл бұрын
You are not supposed to use anti-seize if you used NGK plugs. They have a special non-seize plating on them and if you use anti-seize and torque them to factory specs they can be stressed and stretched.
@wim01044 жыл бұрын
you might have used way too much gunk: is the inside of the rubber boot (coil pack connector) clear? there should only be a little die-electric grease on the contact between the spark plug tip and the boot. Also, with all this messing around, the wire in your coil pack might be damaged. And if you have multiple misfiring cylinders, the coilpacks might be plugged into the wrong cylinder. Maybe you received the wrong spark plugs. Maybe you should go find a friendly mechanic :-)

Your thoughts please..... Totally enjoy your videos, you are definitely one who cares about showing us all the right way to do maintenance!!

Spark plug manufacturers do not recommend the use of anti-seize. The plugs come with a special coating that prevents seizing in the cylinder head.
