I really wish this included how to separate the stub shaft from the CV assembly on the right side.

At 0:35 of the vid it says to loosen and remove the remote negative battery nut and terminal (this is only as safety precaution to prevent accidental starting of the vehicle, and yes the NEGATIVE battery connection/terminal should be removed). However, the POSITIVE remote terminal is shown with an arrow point to it - this is incorrect! (I'm just going to ignore the fact that in the opening credits of the video axle is spelled "axel".) Otherwise, good info!

You guys missed the boat on this one. The drivers side axle sits deep in the outer transaxle seal retainer. Looking for tips to get the left axle out when you cannot get a pry bar behind it.

It may be more difficult on some models to fit a pry bar under the car to pry the axle out. In this case, use a slide hammer with a notch-end attachment to hammer (pull) out and free the axle from the transmission. There should be a groove on the inner CV joint that the notch-end fits into.

@@HaynesManuals Unfortunately there was no groove either, it had a slight step on the inner tulip that if I dressed the end of my pry bar nice and square I was able to catch it and pop it out. Even at that it was a lot of screwing around. Its simply a very poor design on that car which they seem to have an excessive amount of poor engineering on those models.

99 lxi coupe. I used a chain wrapped around the inner cv housing and bolted to the end of a slide hammer. It popped right out.
