Just want to check: Did I miss the part where you remove the ABS sensor first? Big trouble if you don't, because it sits in a groove at the rear of the hub, and will break.

i tried to pull my hub of using a puller and two bolts like shown, and I believe i might have cracked my hub spindle due to excessive torque. Plus make sure that Parking brake is off or the rear rotors (drums) will never come off

killer con check the ABS sensor at the wheel make sure it's plugged in. Possibly got damage with the bad wheel bearing. And you will have to clear it with a scan tool

Brian, I am trying to replace the wheel bearing on a 2006 Subaru outback myself. The damn thing will not come off! What do you suggest to use to free it from the car? Would a blowtorch work?
@HowtoAutomotive
@HowtoAutomotive 6 жыл бұрын
GhostTrain615 A blowtorch would most likely work but before you do that I would try penetrating oil and vibrations so maybe a impact hammer or just tapping it with a hammer. If you use the torch make sure that you have everything disconnected wheel cylinder caliber everything.

I was just thinking - I don't remember removing the e-brake stuff for the other one I did a year ago - that must be the reason. I'll find out this week. Either way, having a brake assembly guide is great.

This is a walk in the park compared to the press in method on the older models. I wonder why Subaru had so many wheel bearing issues, you’d think they’d have fix this after the 3rd-4th year but even on 2015 models there were bearing problems..
@HowtoAutomotive

Why all SUBARUs fail at the rear right ball bearings? I have changed atlaest 5 ball bearings in 2 years now... Dunno what can be the cause? I changed the rear left one 2 years ago and it has been running fine since then..
@HowtoAutomotive
@HowtoAutomotive 7 жыл бұрын
Mohamed Medhat could be anything from not getting that work proper on the axle nut to just a defective part. Hard to say I have not run across a problem.

How to Automotive i have some questions first i dont have a torque tool..so i use all my force installing the axle nut then i bend the upper dish on it so tht it wont rotate wz motion would that cause any problem to the ball bearing? second..ive read that you should push the ball bearing using something that pushes the outer shell..not touching the inner parts as applying force to the inner parts of the ball bearing to push it damages the balls inside..is that true? third.. can i dissassemble the ball bearing into 3 parts..the outer shell and 2 inner shells with the balls attached to them...would that ruin the ball bearing...i bought an original NTN made in japan ball bearing...part no AU0827 i thought i wkuld apply more grease to the ball bearing between it and its seals..what do u think? i need new ideas... this problem is facing 4 of my friends with the same model in the rear right side...one changed up to 12 ball bearings till now in 4 years... they are all rear right ones... your help is much appreciated..
@HowtoAutomotive
@HowtoAutomotive 7 жыл бұрын
Mohamed Medhat having the bearing too tight or not tied enough will definitely wear it out. Pressing it by the inner bearing portion can possibly damage it.and as far as taking it all apart to lubricate it not sure if that's worth it a lot of moving parts to misalign when you're putting it back together because damage. I would buy it bearing and hub as one complete unit makes life easier.

What do you do when the bearing hub is stuck to the spline and brake plate?
@HowtoAutomotive

Hello Tye. You can soak it with penetrating oil like WD-40. Apply heat to it. Or use a hub pulling tool.

Keep the bolts in part way, and tap on them with a hammer going in a circle. That works great for me, although for one car I had to soak the bearing/hub seam overnight with kroil due to extreme rust.

btw I'm watching this cuz my wheel fell off my car and all 5 of the bolts snapped off... wondering if it was cuz the wheel fell off or was it a bad bearing or something please get back to me its curious... I hope you understand those 5 long stems that the wheel would be lugged to.
