In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the steering motor in your ride on car.
If your motor begins to develop a fault, don't worry as the motor is one of the easiest parts to troubleshoot on your ride-on car.
All motors and gearboxes regardless of voltage look and work in the same way. The connections are usually identical. However, the locations of the connections can vary.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the steering motor.
You will need:
* A cross-head screwdriver.
* A set of pliers.
If your steering rod is secured by a split pin let's get to it first begin by removing the seat from
the car.
This is most commonly secured with a Phillips head screwdriver.
Remove the red positive terminal from the battery to ensure there is no power to the car.
Remove the steering wheel from the car.
This is usually removed using a Phillips head screwdriver.
Flip the car upside down, locate the steering rod, and remove the split pin or circlip from the hooked end of the rod.
Pull the hook from the body of the car. Set this aside, undo the screws securing the steering
motor to the underside of the car.
The wide connection may be hidden in the body or under some of the panels of the car
You will need to remove these to be able to unclip the connection.
Unclip the steering motor connection by pushing down on the tab and pulling the
clip away from itself.
You can now remove the motor from the car. Connect the new steering motor wire connection.
If any paneling was removed to expose the connection, this will need to be re-seated.
Secure the steering motor with the screws that were previously removed.
Fit the steering rod back through the body of the car and the steering motor.
Ensure the hooked end fits through the loop in the steering rack. Secure the hooked end with the pin that was previously removed.
Place the car back onto its wheels place the steering wheel back onto the steering rod and secure with the nut and bolt that was previously removed.
Replace the red battery terminal and turn on the car.
Test the steering using the controller to ensure that the motor is working properly, and there are no obscure noises coming from it. Once satisfied the motor is operating correctly, replace the seat and secure with the screws that were previously removed.
And that's it. You have successfully replaced the steering motor on your ride on car.
