Instead of trying to pry the emergency brake pad off, I just moved it out of place and loosen the hub bolts and took the hun off. Put the emergency brake pad back in place and put the hub back on and worked around the pad and put it back in place when done. Then the pad is not stretched out of place and easier to get rotor back on.

Removed those T30's with allen wrench shaped Torx wrenches, but a complete nightmare (along with that emergency brake cable) after 17 winters, I had to cut the cable.

Once those torx bolts are out, replace them with hex bolts to make future work faster and easier.

Replacing the E brake shoe is incorrect the shoe will not return the the proper shape and specifications. The E brake shoe is to be installed from behind the hub before the new hub is installed.

I would also not remove the E brake like this unless your planning on replacing it. Im finding out the hard way. I had to use a bar clamp to reshape it back to get it to fit. I will have to be replaced because of the proper shape as you mentioned. You could even remove the e brake cylinder(T30) after you get the whole assembly removed plus all reassembled prior to install.

Great video!! BUT it needs a update the entire hub assemble can be installed in your lap I just did this without any Ebrake shoe damage it all assembled together I. Your lap including the t30 fasteners it’s a very very very easy job flip the rotor to knock the old one out with a hammer.. I struggled with the Ebrake shoe and the Ebrake adjust unit reinstall procedure out lined.. you can easily do this in your lap without moving don’t pry the shoe out

You can do the t30s once you take the hub and dust sheild off together.

There is a tool, an L wrench T30 Torx. Sold in a set at Canadian Tire and elsewhere. It makes the job that much easier.

Just thought I’d comment and tell everyone what to really do. Why trust me? I just did it thirty minutes ago. You will need a T30 torx, yes, however you don’t have to take off the E brake shoe, or those bolts while it’s still on. If you actually look at the hub itself, what’s keeping it together is the four bolts, then the caliper bolts. Once you undo your caliper, the hub bolts, it will take some effort but you then take a flat head screw driver and hammer in between where the dust shield is. It will come out all in one peace. Please trust me. It will save you hours.

I typed a long reply but this PoS site hanged up when posting it and lost it!!! In short, this is a totally backwards way of doing it! Here's the proper way: -If your vehicle is from the Rust Belt and is rusted to hell, you're probably screwed. Most sane shops would turn away a job like this. -Don't worry about the parking shoe. -Don't worry about the brake adjuster assembly and the two T30 screws. -Undo the four 10mm bolts. -Hit the center post of the hub until there's just a little bit space between the splashguard and the other assembly the hub goes into. -Use a hammer and a flathead screwdriver to chisel the entire assembly out of its round slot. -Separate the hub along with the shoe from the splashguard/adjuster assembly. Reassemble in reverse order using the new hub.

I did get quite a laugh when the clip above fast-forwarded through what must have been a good ten minutes of serious cursing and grunting trying to pry that one piece shoe over the hub.

You don't have to remove the t30 screws? Last time I took my rear apart I left the e brake shoes out, to much rust to reinstall them.

what about if the old hub is rusted on very tight?? ive tried wd-40 and let it set for a bit and still doesn't want to come off? is there another way to loosen it?

WD-40 is not very good for penetrating rust. WD is for "water displacement". There are much better commercially available rust penetrants than WD-40, such as PB Blaster. Even better than PB Blaster is Kano Kroil. The best is a home-made 50/50 mixture of ATF and acetone in a small steel oiler can. (ATF is automatic transmission fluid). Don't get it on paint, and it must be shaken every time it's used as the ATF and acetone will naturally separate.

DO NOT PRY THE E BRAKE SHOE Prying the e brake shoe off bent them and cause it to rub so much I couldn’t turn the wheel. Cost me $50 for new e brake shoes and had to redo all the work.

Why not remove the emergency brake drum and reinstall it when you remove and install the hub. It is a lot easier that way and you do not risk damaging the drum with all the prying on it.

+QUINCY WILLIAMS If your abs light is on, the first thing you should check is your brake pads. If your pads are good, then you might have a problem with your abs sensor. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 866-403-3393
