I have used PIAA blades. I have 24inch wipers on my 1999 buick park avenue that I have owned going on three years now. I have cleaned them once(they are due for a cleaning again). The frames are excellent quality(the metal and plastic ones) and they sell the refills. I have had these same wipers on 3 cars so far. I am putting my current ones on my secondary, less driven car and putting new ones on my daily. I am doing this because I am going to the beam style blade that chatters less at higher speeds, not because of the quality of the wiper. I also live in northrn wisconsin so we see a lot of hot, sticky summers with cold harsh winters, really showing the quality of these wipers. I hope they are serving your honda really well!

Thanks for taking the time to comment about the life of the PIAA blades. It's comments like yours that add value to the video. Were the PIAA blades on a garage kept car? My company car did not stay in the garage, wiper blades did not have a long life. They got used a lot too... four seasons here in Pennsylvania too, though I'm sure our winters are milder than yours. My garage kept car's blades lasted for 8-9 years.

Thanks for the video. Just to add to the quality and longevity of the PIAA, they are great! I would say they lasted about 3times longer than the factory ones I got on my old Mazda. I wanted to get PIAA for my current Ford truck but the profile of the refills do not fit. As mentioned, just buy the assembly, and then you can purchase refills when needed. I liked the wiper assembly on the truck so am taking an 8 dollar gamble on silicone wiper refills from Amazon as the profile of the refill fits the beam style I have. I read that silicone rubber is what lasts longer and provides a smoother wipe.

Thankyou. SO insightful, directle explained and getting straight to the point. You made the job easy. I fould that there were notches in the blades themselves that corresponded with the notches in the metal. That helped me because I got them confused on the first wiper.

I have same rear wiper blade as the video and it’s a pain to replace the refill blade. Last time I must’ve bowed the metal inserts in the process as the wiper misses a portion of the rear window each pass now. Great video by the way

Will have to see the video couple of times to understand the profile sizes etc finer aspects to figure out for my cars front and rear wipers..very well explained..love such meticulous individuals..👍💟

Thanks. Yours is the first video that told me which way round to fit the rubbers - with the steel recesses and the rubber recess at the bottom of the blade.

Thanks this helped. I have a 2020 mazda and no real tutorials on how to replace rubbers of the wipers. This was the only thing that helped me for the rear part. I might just replace the wiper next time cause the metal parts have bowed with having to get the inserts out. What a pain.

Agreed, wipers are a pain. You might try Rockauto if you have to replace the entire blade assembly next time. It's usually cheaper than dealer parts.

I'm trying to convince my partner to learn how to do simple fixes for his car more to save money but he is so resistant lol I guess I'm the one in charge of that despite not owning a car at all. This is super helpful thanks!!

You are welcome. I take care of all of the "low hanging fruit" car maintenance, oil changes, ATF change, filters, wipers. Of course, the first try at these chores is a little challenging, but it gets easier and you get a sense of accomplishment. For sure you want to keep up with inflating the tires. Running on low pressure can actually damage the inside of the tire. Best wishes for the partner training program.

this is the only rubber refill video showing us which direction should the locked end blades face, I was wondering the same thing yesterday when I replace the rubber, now I know for sure I was doing it right. I recommend people actually buying refills from dealer, those dirt cheap rubber refills on amazon may break in a month and it may come loose and the blade may scratch your window. you want the rubber refills fit the metal strips exactly and lock them into place, after market refills don't lock the metal strips, so be careful.

PIAA silicone are the best They wipe great and last forever. They also stand up to Florida heat just fine. I'm not sure they're interested in staying in the wiper business though.

liked your video, However, mine have the metal rails and notches but no stopper of any kind either on the blade or the frame: I bent the last metal tabs on the frame to hold on the notches ( i hope) did not see you address that problem......was i correct?
@Know-How-Now Жыл бұрын
I didn't address that problem, thank you for being so kind with your question. The downside I can think of with bending the frames is that it will fatigue the metal. You'll likely be OK on the first bend, but repeating it might cause it to break. I don't remember if I mentioned in the video... I've found that Rock Auto has reasonably priced wiper assemblies/refills.

@@Know-How-Now so who makes wipers that can do this? I thought since you were mentioning them it was for this reason.

The video is 4 years old. Suppliers do change their products which I don't have any control over. Here's a search for them at NAPA: www.napaonline.com/en/search/replacement-parts/wipers-and-windshield-products/wiper-blades-and-refills/wiper-blade-refill/201586205

@@Know-How-Now gotcha. Just seemed like you were recommending them as a brand that regularly provides this type of wiper. Rock Auto doesn’t give much info on this.

It just feels like you might be in a position to recommend sources of refills? Yes/No? If so, how about adding them in your description?
@Know-How-Now3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the suggestion. I have thought about putting links to products that I have found to be superior. I'm on the fence about it though. At this time, I prefer to present the "how to" and let you decide on what is best for you.

True because depending on your location you have options, limitations and considering those varied situations this video gives proper clues to keep in mind while exploring the options available.

Called various local auto chain supply stores, they don't sell refills, only blades. Called my Subaru dealer parts dept, they don't sell refills, just blades. Amazon sells refills but they are not brand/year/model specific, may not be the right size/configuration to fit Subaru OEM frames. I gave up and ordered a set of Rain X blades for my 2014 Forester from Amazon for $50+.
