Whats causing the epigenetic changes is evolutionarily relevant period. Trying to isolate things down to the decimal points and not being satisfied with that is scientific, but its almost like shes acting like its in a broad spectrum sense unknowable at present.

Heres how epigenetic change are linked to pathology: They are a response to it. If I never ever change the oil in my vehicle and wonder why friction can lead to the expansion of metals without acknowledging why there are magnets in transmission boxes in non scientific PR conversation, then no wonder. Then again she needs to keep doing interviews so we can eventually be using mathematical models to reconstruct the future ultimate blueprint for excellence in the line of next generational perfection.

Key takeaways for me were: 1. She is risk adverse, no matter the possible benefits. She avoided saying anything too positive about any supplement/diet/drug/rejuvenation technique except Rapa. 2. She validated the Truage clock for healthspan. CA-AKG needs more research but may provide a significant benefit as the big worry was the accuracy of TruAge in regards to healthspan. 3. DNA Methyl clocks have a long way to go before they can be used in a way that we all intend to use them for accurately measuring the progress of our interventions. 4. We are 10-20 years out from anything in the full clock reversal product/treatment Brad, you asked the right questions, good work!

Dr Morgan is smart. I like how she the future of health and clinical trials, I agree with her and I love what is doing someone like Kellis Manolis. I think clinical trials are way too slow, archaic and biased. IMO and I know lot will disagree, we need to share our data in a secure system where AI can make prediction and understand it. Anyway it was a very good interview, she was concise and realist. Good pick

I like her comment about the noise variance in clock measurements. For your trial, I *would* be interesting to pick what's considered the most reliable clock and do two tests per-subject at the beginning, and again at the end, to both check test noise levels and to see if there's a correlation. I mean, once you have your population and trial rolling, why not?
@aceyboy

I actually found this podcast very pessimistic. - nothing really works in terms of supplements. Most do more harm than good - she's too diplomatic to admit resveratrol is useless but hints at it - no real rejuvenation techniques work either - good old fashioned diet and exercise is all we have to combat ageing - next 10-20 years look interesting at best. Human trials IF UNBIASED should validate/invalidate current molecules/drugs. Longevity science seems to be progressing so slow. It accounts for almost all diseases and this is the best we've been able to do 🤦‍♂️
@Theodorus5
@Theodorus5 2 жыл бұрын
I agree! it was very disappointing!!! the only solution at this point looks like massive tissue replacement. The whole body. We would do that via FULL dedifferentiation of cells back to embryo like state. Destroy the ECM via targeted enzymes. We then help the regeneration process via tissue printing (if necessary). If we can protect the connectome then that is good. If we can not, then we re-write it into fresh neural tissue using neurotechnology. We could do all of that in this decade. There is no other option.

I'd love to hear her views on the potential risks of various popular interventions since she sounds oriented toward caution about supplements. Overall we don't hear enough credible input on that topic. Brad always covers it when he does a video on a certain supplement but it would be good to have a video that focuses only on dangers. Like now I'm wondering if my fisetin is targeting cells it should not, lol.

My comment with respect to discussion at time 17.20. The OSK (OCT4, SOX2, KLF4) protocol, developed at the Sinclair laboratory at Harvard resets the epigenome but stops short of reaching pluropotency such that the cells retain their differentiation. If cMyc is introduced as well then the cells reset down to the pluripotency level and cancers such as Teratomas can likely occur. Sinclair's lab demonstrated good safety for the OSK protocol in mice.

What it shows about aging is that there is alot of conflicting points of views. I like the fact she isn't as optomistic then others in the longevity community. Aubrey De Grey when interviewed also said this would take longer then anticitpated. Sinclair states its more or less a done deal. This scientist seems to be very, very, very cautious and that's what you would expect from a good scientist. We're not sure that these clocks are actually measuring anything meaningful. We're not sure that taking an adult fibroblast back to a new born pluripotent stem cell is actually rejuvenating anything and we don't know who is funding our work. Many people are obsessed about aging. Their life restricts to taking supplements, training, stressing, ... these interventions are not a goal or sense in life. each life must find what makes him joyful and not try to copy what other say and become a pseudo expert. I am a patent examiner and I see that humans are good at creating artificial objects using hard science but concerning human health we deal with soft science and real improvements do not happen. we forget that we are not machines and that the spirit triggers biological changes and without spirit giving real goals and joy in life the biology will age faster whatever intervention we apply. In soft science like biology and medicine results are bad conflicting and mainly the results of placebo.

I once read of a study conducted on a single honeybee. The bee was marked so that it could be monitored. At the end of the first colony, the marked bee was extracted before dying and transplanted into a fresh nest just beginning. The subject bee rejuvenated, and worked normally on the second nest until that 2nd nest was done. The study honeybee was again extracted before it would have normally died with the second nest, and then transplanted into a third new nest. This was done a total of 7 times. Could this finding be associated in humans with the placebo effect ?

This rapamycin trial is really interesting. But the difficultiy in financing adds new challenges. I think that such a promising drug to anti-aging could be tested by a group of scientists. The trial Dr. Stanfield wants to carry may be used to answer questions that maybe won´t be in the project. And if financing one trial is hard. Imagine two or three...

In more than one interview the interviewee has told you they're not supplementing at all. Assuming they're being completely honest, how does this make you feel about your own supplementation? You emphasize the importance of diet, exercise, sleep, and stress, and also have a disclaimer about your supplementation, but I wonder how their answers affect what you're doing for yourself. Despite your disclaimers you must know that listing your affiliate links results in viewers making purchases of the supplements you list which benefits you financially. Is this an ethical practice? I realize that KZfaq is an income for you, and that affects everything from your video titles, content, questions asked, etc. I guess I wonder how incentivized you are to go from Google doc to website, to always be taking supplements, even if you list the ones you no longer take. Do you see yourself ever adding all of your supplements to the No Longer Taking list? I appreciate your content despite finding some of it a little misleading. I don't think you're looking for quick fixes for yourself, but we both know that some of your viewers are. Honestly you'd probably get a lot of hits from a video about accepting death and stepping back from the supplements for a second, because let's face it, despite all this hype all of your followers are probably going to die. We're not the rich and powerful, a lot of us struggle to be healthy in a world that seems to be going so wrong for all kinds of reasons. I know you're a medical doctor and not a therapist or philosopher, but this is clearly a complicated subject that I believe deserves some introspection.

I agree, this is a supplement channel first and foremost and while old mate Brad is very knowledgeable, a lot of advice is based off a handful of studies. God knows what long term affects there are. It takes years for a new medicine to be approved yet, some of us are happy taking pills every day made in an unregulated lab based off what a guy on youtube told us

Hello Dr. Brad: What about fasting? I believe that the criteria for taking a supplement for a young person and an old person may be different: An old person may not be able to wait 10 years for studies of a certain molecule to be completed. One criterion to use may be the following: If the molecule is safe and there is some kind of evidence that it has potential, it should be subject to further scrutiny to determine whether to take it or not....

I don't like biomarkers being referred to as "clocks" at all. Clocks implies some kind of a time (in relation to what we would expect from chronological age). But the whole point is to accurately measure the state of an organism's senescence, i.e. the current state of the body. This has nothing to do with time at all. Is this person sick? Is this person unacceptably senescent? Is this person susceptible to disease? Is this person in need of aging reversal? These are the sort of questions which, ideally, biomarkers should answer once they become accurate enough.

No modality is known to turn back the clock in humans despite people claiming drastically younger biological ages as measured by a theoretical epigenetic clock. You're more likely to be able to reach 74 than to be biologically 24.The best modalities for minimizing aging that we know of are diet and exercise and maybe they give you an extra decade if you've exercised and had a good diet for most of your life. Some drugs also extend life. I would guess that we are programmed to wear out (and die) to protect species survival, and that's why drastic age reversal / lifespan extension may be elusive. Think about it. If lifespan is drastically expanded, we would likely have a way worse overpopulation problem than we have now, and resources ( including food) would likely be more scarce. This is partly due to our current inability to colonize and ruin other planets.

Watching through, did you go over the questions/topics with her at all before you started the conversation? Looks like you're really nailing her to the wall w/regard to hot-button questions. While you're a clinician and focused purely on data, she's a researcher of some renown and influence. That puts her in a very political position when answering hot-button questions. She has a lot to lose if she answers those questions bluntly, and she's at risk answering them at all. - We want to support the best researchers in advancing science; they can't do that if they lie, and they can't do that if they piss other powerful people off (too much) I recommend coming up with an interview outline, highlight what you think could be hot-button questions and warning your subjects in advance of them so they can let you know if it's something you'd be better off not asking. You'll get a better reputation as an interviewer if you do that.... and that means more access, and more information for the rest of us. Keep up the good work!

So ageing clocks are inaccurate and not dependable at all. She should tell Steve Horvath that his clocks are no good, and any experiment using them is pretty much useless. +_9 years of noise. She should be generous and share this knowledge with Steve Horvath and David Sinclair. Also Greg Fahy.

What I find peculiar, is 20 years old like Brad and Morgan talking about what they take or not. Truth be said they should be taking nothing! Now let us just see what say Morgan is taking on or plastering at their face at age 50. Just the fact that at 20 you guys are taking something should tell us at 50 we should be taking all!

You are what you eat. Your diet impacts your health. Lower stress, reduce obesity and more exercise are key to a healthy life. Obesity in children and adults is rising across the world. Fast food and sugary drinks are contributing to the problem of poor health and obesity. Eat a healthy plant based diet and exercise regularly. Reduce or ELIMINATE cows milk, eggs, cheese and meat. Eat more salad greens, beans, fruit and vegetables. Eliminate fast food, snacks like cookies, cakes, chips, and sugary drinks and juices. Every adult and child should own a bicycle and ride it regularly. Regular exercise will help you sleep better. Yoga is a great stress reducer. Obesity is all too common today. Get off the couch. Get off the phone, ipad or video game. A variety of stretching and other exercises help with increased mobility. Ride to work, ride to school, ride for fun. Every city should be a bicycle city. Speak up for bicycles in your community
