It depends on what type of BA you want to become. System analysts and technical analysts tend to require SQL, Hadoop, but it depends on what type of software you work with. If you're more on the business process side, then you won't be required as much technical skill sets. Hi, if the solution is a COTS, what do you think should the BA be working on? Like do you still need requirements given that the functions are pre-defined already in the product? I'm just quite confused on what is required from a BA if the company has decided on a COTS solution

Yeah it can be confusing but BAs can still work on configuration of those COTS products and business still needs someone who can help them set up software the way they want to use it. Salesforce, SAP Successfactor or Oracle BAs still bring value to the business. If you want to learn more, you should search those job descriptions and how those jobs can bring values to the business!
