How much pressure are you applying when sanding? Or are you just rubbing the sandpaper against the surface with very little pressure?

After doing so you'll need to apply some finish to protect, aluminium oxidize very fast.

Hi. Nice video. What's the purpose of alumicut? Can you sand without it?

it's a cutting fluid, basically lubricates and take away the heat. Heat kills sandpaper faster. Ever seen stone being cut? See how they use water to keep the cutting disc cool? Same concept, but for sandpaper. It's basically some kind of petroleum distillate in this case. You can get away with using something like wd-40 or diesel/kerosene for hobbyist projects.

Thanks for the video.. can alluminum 5052 H32 sheet is suitable for this operation? Originally it has matt finish, and I need mirror finish...

It should work fine, just follow the steps in the video and you should be fine

I would bend first before sanding and polishing

I would recommend Blingmaster Aluminator or other aluminum polish. For your lubricant you could try WD-40

Yes, you can. I just prefer alumicut

I am actually on Facebook. If the scratches are deep you may have to get mechanical sander of some sort to sand away the scratches. You should check out my other aluminum sanding and polishing video for help if you need it

This was a great video, can I use anything else besides Alumicut? I've been trying to polish cooper but its leaving streaks I think the Alumicut would help a great deal but can't find in my local hardware stores is there another form of alumicut you recommend? @@godisinfinite6730 You can experiment with wd-40 or diesel/kerosense as cutting fluid. I have tried those in the past and it was good enough for my needs.

THANKS slow down ...lol. never heard of alumacut tho ... hmmmmm,,, im not sure how much time you are really sanding with any particular grit and i realize it may vary according to conditions. shouldnt you rinse or wipe between grits? to avoid contamination of older grits? Thanks!
